  1. I would always calibrate the PDF before starting. If you're out by a small amount in the PDF that translates massive problem in your drawings and onsite.
  2. do you have any referenced design layers in the file, any layer links?
  3. I have had some random crashes with Vectorworks to ceases to exist no warning just vanish. I've been doing a lot of work with data, record formats, worksheets, and graphic legends lately. Sometimes it's fine and sometimes it just vanishes so I don't know what steps I've done to cause this to happen.
  4. have you got anything of a know length on the PDF?
  5. When you create the missing model, you have to take the option to create a custom roof. from Profile. This will allow you to change the profile and add Gable ends to the roof. You have to choose this option before you create your missing model but it doesn't allow you to edit the roof using the regular tools.
  6. This is the shim gap on the windows. On the window settings, find the shim gap and turn it to zero. It is designed to show the difference between the window size and the rough opening in the framing.
  7. You can have a look at my YouTube channel, you might like my style of teaching, this playlist is for a Beginner’s course:
  8. can you show a screen shot of the plant showing the category of the plant?
  9. it is the design layer naming, here is a movies that shows how to merge files together: https://youtu.be/-DkZRKsQ5-s
  10. A little bit more information will help. For example, how are you placing the object in 3-D? If you place the object in top/plan, does it still arrive far away? Are you trying to snap to an object that already exists? Without seeing you do this, I think you might be having issues with layer plane and working plane. This movie might help:
  11. I would really recommend upgrading to Vectorworks architect. Not only do you get the rotate of you and the Navigation palette but you also get many very powerful tools and techniques.
  12. You can just about use that image to create the required texture. You need to use photoshop to remove everything but the glass and then correct the perspective.
  13. you should be able to do this with textures, add the glass texture first, then add a Decal to the glass. The decal is another texture that has to have the transparency you need.
  14. what settings do you have on the viewport, are you in Top/Plan view in the viewport?
  15. What settings do you have on the viewport?
  16. If you photograph the bed from above, you could make a texture that looked like rocks. You need to make sure that the texture tiles correctly and use a bump map to make it lumpy
  17. Are your class options set to Show/Snap/Modify others?
  18. The easy way to make your title block is to start with a Vectorworks standard title block, then edit the style and layout to suit. This keeps all the links and you will be able to grab the drawing number and drawing title automatically. Some parts are setup so that the same text is applied to every title bock (client details, job address, etc). Have a look at this movie and start at 05:56
  19. you can change the settings for all the mode bar groups, but it will affect all the tools. You can learn to use the i key instead.
  20. Why not include this information in the top line of the .xml file. (Interiorcad used to do this)
  21. I don't understand why it has to be a script rather than the hyperlink tool. Is it because the hyperlink tool will not export to the PDF if you link to a saved view?
  22. The way that I would do it is to make metres your main units and millimetres your dual units or secondary units. Then you can set up two dimensions standards. The first dimension standard would use metres and the second dimension standard would be using millimetres. have a look at this movie from 7:30 onwards
