  1. if you open a vw11 DTM file in VectorWorks 12 it will get updated automatically. In VectorWorks 12 we can now have the DTM Data on the same layer as the site model, so you don?t need to have so many layers..

  4. Objects from Polyline is a VectorWorks Architect or Designer Series command is not available if you have the standard VectorWorks. The Create Walls From Polygon command doesn?t show up on the workspaces, but it is still part of VectorWorks. From the Menu Bar choose Tools > Workspaces > Workspace Editor... Find the command and add it to the menu: Modify > Convert > then you will have it... the two commands (objects from polyine and walls from ploygon) work differently. I like the latter one as I think it gives you the ability to choose wall settings on the fly. The former uses the active wall style...
  5. I?m sure that very few items are ?ignored, forgotten?. Many are not possible in the next release but make it into future releases... Nemetschek North America really do listen to our concerns
  6. for hybrid objects, if you export them from a 2D View all the 3D stuff will be left out.

  8. if you assign the same texture to both parts of the building (the upper and lower floors) then you shouldn?t see a join. Final Quality RenderWorks won?t show the lines anyway... if you are using hidden line renderings then there is a way to do this, you need to make a thin 3D shape, a bit like a skirt that goes around the joint in the two walls. The trick is that the skirt has no line on it..
  9. if you are planning on buying an intel-mac, WAIT!. You will have to wait until VW12.5 for VectorWorks to run on your Intel-Mac. I?ve written a blog that might explain more... http://web.mac.com/jpickup1/iWeb/Site/archoncad/archoncad.html

  11. I found the easiest way to make my custom title block was to start with an NNA one that works and edit it to suit me. That way all the connections are in place and they work. It?s like making it from scratch, but easier
  12. is this a VectorWorks drawing border you?re using?
  13. I've found that the class settings can cause this, make your class options: Show/Snap/Modify Others
  14. I use the Eyedropper tool for the things that I used to use the Clone PIO tool for. To change the filters for the eyedropper, click on the preferences, on the mode bar
  15. many of my clients are happy with the canon 6500
  16. I guess if you had a consistent set of classes in the office this wouldn?t be such an issue.
  17. and you can change door types dynamically from the Object Info Palette
  18. Like a Paste Special where the classes of the pasted object are set to None?
  19. When you create a new class in VectorWorks 12.0.1, there is are two pop-up menus at the bottom where you can choose the new class state in Saved Views and in Viewports. Or if you want more control try the Visibilities Tab on the Organization palette...
  20. to edit your company title block, you should edit the file in your VectorWorks Application folder: Libraries > Defaluts > Drawing Border - Title Blocks then you can place a title block on your drawing, set it up the way you want, then copy it from one drawing to another. I have cover this in detail in my Architect and Landscape tutorial, but you may not want to get it just for that. https://plus36.safe-order.net/archoncad/manuals/manuals.php
  21. the missing .mcd extension is the problem. Get into the the habit of adding the extension and you should be able to open the Mac files on your PC...
  22. I write a clearer, step by step tutorial for VectorWorks and in there I show you how to edit the standard title blocks for VectorWorks 12. https://plus36.safe-order.net/archoncad/manuals/manuals.php
  23. i would go with Mike?s advice. it?s quick and easy. another way would be to use a ddesign layer to draw the details and put a reference grid on it, which would be on a class.then set up your drawings using viewports and turn off the reference grid class
  24. Cristiaan emailed me directly about this, the answer is in my Architect Tutorial manual. I show you there how to make a curved roof. If anyone wants that manual please refer to https://plus36.safe-order.net/archoncad/manuals/manuals.php
