Matt Hall
I Would like to us the space tool and assign an occupancy type (like A occupancy) then an occupancy load factor (like 15) then a total occupancy base on the s.f. of the space. I know it can be done, I'm sure i'm not the only one who needs to do this for code reviews. why cant vectorworks provide some simple version of this without making me spend hours trying to find the answer. I end up just manually doing this stuff. I believe Vectorworks is as good or better than Revit, but dosn't mater if people can easily access the power of the software. There are some really basic things that every architecture firms needs to do in their documents. and how to do these things in vectorworks should be as easy as putting a door in a wall love the new space tool love the tags 2 Quote Link to comment
Guest Wes Gardner
Hi All, Download the Gallery file from Vectorworks University...as the spaghetti company says - it's in there... Sheet A0.2 Here: https://university.vectorworks.net/mod/page/view.php?id=3150 Quote Link to comment
Matt Hall
Well, this looks promising. Thank you, Quote Link to comment
Matt Hall
I pulled the worksheet from the gallery project. It does do the math but what i really want is to have the data tag show how many occupants can be in the space. cant figure a way to make a data tag give me the results any other thoughts Quote Link to comment
jeff prince
@Matt Hall Customize the datatag definition to do math based on data from the space object. See attached. Hope it helps. math in tag.vwx Quote Link to comment
Guest Wes Gardner
I tweaked the Space a bit to use "AreaPerOccupant" rather than a User field and then got the "boys in the back room" to create a tag.... Wes Occupants (1).vwx Quote Link to comment
Matt Hall
Thanks That got me to the next level. Maybe close enough for me to move on with my life. It would be perfect if I could round up the Occupant number in the tag. Quote Link to comment
Matt Hall
Hey, didn't see the the last reply. looks like there in the round up part. Thanks now its perfect Quote Link to comment
Matt Hall
Occupancy Tag and worksheet.vwx I've been trying to figure this out for years Thanks all Still not sure why this type of thing isn't a stock item. It works, but its not elegant as far as how you input the information. It would also be great if the occ load factor could be tied in with the occupancy type. Quote Link to comment
Guest Wes Gardner
Honestly, the Data Tag hasn't had the ability to do this before.... Quote Link to comment

Guest Wes Gardner
@mjm I believe in '22 we introduced the ability to have worksheet functions in data tags...that where the "WS" prefix in that string in the data tag function comes from Wes Quote Link to comment

Shortnort
Wes: I use version 202o since I am still in Windows7 platform. Is your example available in version 2020? If not, any advice on how I should upgrade to windows 10? I am a bit skittixh about doing that. Quote Link to comment
Guest Wes Gardner
@Shortnort here's the file backsaved to 2020...I no longer have this version so I can't pre-test it for you but you are certainly welcome to have a go at it. Wes Occupants v2020.vwx Quote Link to comment
Shortnort
Thanks, Wes. More than likely I will not be able to accomplish this in 2020. When I went into the Define Tag Field, a bunch of gobble-d-goop displayed and without saving, the display showed the same gooble-d-goop. I have been trying desparately to upgrade to Windows 10, but have had ZERO luck. An unknown error keeps popping up. I have researched many sites, done exactly what they suggested, and of course, still no luck. I have tried downloading the iso file, but when the file is almost completed downloaded, I get a disk fail error saying the disk is too small, yet the 32G flash drive isn't large enough for a 3.5G file... Go figure. Guess I am stuck in VW2020 for yet a while longer. Thank you so much for your help. Quote Link to comment
