KIT KOLLMEYER
Revit is implementing generative design. I want it. Imagine setting criteria for floor plans based on adjacencies, views, room sizes and frontages, then VW generates a dozen unique floor plans that fit the criteria. A few companies other that revit are working on this now. It’s not to replace my schematic thinking or process in any way, but I think AI could help us see more possibilities to explore. 3 Quote Link to comment
Popular Post Jeff Prince
In the near future, you will have software that designs the building for you based on inputting data and parameters. That software still won't have good tools for stairs, windows, manipulating point clouds, grading sites, collaborating easily, manipulating external databases, etc 🙂 I wish Vectorworks would develop based on what actual professionals need and complete those development tasks before creating half baked shiny objects (marketing points) for customers to chase. 5 Quote Link to comment
Art V
Not related to architecture but it does give an idea of how generative design can lead to solutions that may in the end not be that practical/useful after all even if it does meet the input criteria. https://www.engineering.com/story/when-generative-design-backfires-vws-new-wheels 4 Quote Link to comment

Matt Overton
If VW or it's parent org has a tool like this in the works it could be better as a separate product. One that is online and works with all their own and other products via IFC file or such. Sure offer deals to existing customers but models like this need lots of training and lots of use better they target as broad a base of potential users as possible. Quote Link to comment
