@Matt Panzer Did anything come of this issue with the wall clipping in a DLVP? I just submitted a bug report for the same issue, then stumbled on this thread.

Advice on housing project referencing
KIT KOLLMEYER replied to KIT KOLLMEYER's topic in Architecture
Thanks @bcd That was exactly what I needed! -
I'm hoping for advice on file setup for a housing project. We have a complicated site model in it's own file. Then we have individual files for each house type. I'd like to somehow reference each of those house files into the site model. I tried just referencing the house models in as design layers, but then I get conflicts with design layers from each house model. I tried making a symbol of the house model in each house model file, but I lost the ability to edit layers inside the symbol. - House models need to be 3 dimensional in site model file, not just references of sheet layers - I'd prefer not to bring duplicate design layers from each house model into the site model - I need to be able to rotate, mirror, and move each house model individually in the site model Does anyone have a good solution for this? Thanks, Kit

Awning Window Operation Upside-Down
KIT KOLLMEYER replied to KIT KOLLMEYER's question in Troubleshooting
What! Thanks Matt -
Hi All, I'm hoping someone can help me solve a mystery. The window style that we use on most of our projects is recently showing the operation direction for awning windows upside-down as if they are hopper windows. Here's a screen recording describing the issue: https://www.loom.com/share/7807e1b9b55b437fab8afc734cd6d868 I have attached a file showing an awning window straight from the window tool next to an awning pasted in from one of our projects. I'm not finding a simple setting to fix the issue, and I'm not excited about the prospect of replacing all our windows in current projects. Thoughts? Thanks, Kit Window Test.vwx

I'm working on a winder stair with a C-channel stringer. I seem to remember being able to do this with the parametric stair tool at one point, but I just found that the current stair tool doesn't have options for stringer profiles. What's up with that? I really don't want to manually model this stair and adjust when the story levels inevitably change during structural engineering.

@Matt Panzer Any movement on this request? I'm running into the same problem on a current project. Thanks, Kit

Thanks Pat, I should have mentioned I had a trailer in that cell. Thanks Juan Carlos, your formula did the trick!

At this point, I'm using a very complicated combination of 'clipping roofs' on a hidden layer and a sloped slab for the roof that shows on drawings so I can clip components where needed. It's really not efficient at all. It would have been easier to just model it with extrudes, but then it wouldn't work with the tags and correctly oriented hatches and graphic legends that we have set up for all our projects. And then in some instances we just draw over trouble spots in viewports. This is definitely BIM adjacent.

I'm working on an energy code worksheet and having trouble working out the if-then statement function: Basically, I want the worksheet to automatically say how many credits I need based on the area of the building. The area is shown in cell C1. In cell D3 I would like a formula that says: if the value in cell C1 is less than 1500 then display 5 (if the area is less than 1500 sq ft we need 5 energy credits), if the value is between 1500 and 5000 then display 8 (we need 8 credits for a 1500 - 5000 area), if the value is greater than 5000 then display 9 (for 5000 or greater areas we need 9 credits). I started with the if((logical_test), value_if_true,value_if_false) syntax: =if((C1=<1500), 5,0) but I'm definitely getting something wrong, it just shows the formula instead of a result. Does anyone know where I'm going wrong? Thanks, Kit

I'm working on a complex roof that needs different component offsets at different faces of the roof (no offsets on north edge, 3" roofing component offset on west edge, etc.) Surely there must be a way to specify that right? The edge offsets in the roof component dialog apply to all roof edges. I tried clipping the roof, and the offsets apply to the clipped area, so that doesn't do it. I tried using a roof slab instead, but the edge offsets only work on one edge of a roof slab. With a floor slab you can apply a clip to one component. That would be a good feature for roofs. Any ideas would be welcome, Thanks, Kit

Isolate/Hide Object
KIT KOLLMEYER replied to Mark666's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
Is this on a Vectorworks to do list? I was just working on a complicated object that is covered by other objects. It's just a quick little thing so I didn't want to make separate classes. I thought, there must be a simple isolate object function in VW, searched and was surprised there isn't. I really don't want to mess with scripting for something like this, it seems like it should just be part of the software. Sketchup does it, why can't VW? -
Custom Arrow Heads
KIT KOLLMEYER replied to KIT KOLLMEYER's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
Thanks Allan! I like the symbol approach, that's cool. I've played with the edit marker and don't quite get where I need to be sometimes, like the one highlighted in blue in my screenshot. I was thinking it would be cool if you could make your own symbol to use as a custom leader marker on callouts or any other tool that uses arrow heads. -
Second decimal in slope dimension tool
KIT KOLLMEYER posted a question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
The slope dimension tool only has one decimal, so for a 1/4":12" roof slope it'll show either .3/12 or .2/12. It would be great to have a second decimal in the tool so roof slopes can be shown correctly. https://www.loom.com/share/9d6381b5576240548e2aa45fc7b8c7d4?sid=517f30e5-c949-4699-90e7-0f992b243742
