LMorga
I just updated the software. While trying the new system, I noticed I couldn’t draw steel beams, with the structure member tool. I contacted VSS support, they were able to recreate the issue. They said they are working on a solution. I hope they fix it quickly the new features look awesome, in the release videos.. 1 Quote Link to comment
Wesley Burrows
I only attempted to mess with this for a moment but I too was unable to draw anything. Quote Link to comment

markdd
Same here too. Can't draw a thing with this tool. Quote Link to comment
Patrick Fritsch
This tool seams half baked to me and it's usage intent is not very clear either. I attempted to create a heavy timber truss as shown below and it was impossible to draw in plan view and elevation so I just went back to using the old framing member tool....I will harp on my opinion again that ALL the detailing tools in VW are limited and archaic. Go see Archicad's detailing capabilities. Quote Link to comment
Wesley Burrows
I suspect you are referring to the AEC structural member tool. We are referring to the entertainment rigging one. There are several tools in VW that share similar names but with somewhat different functionality. Confusing for sure. Quote Link to comment
markdd
My understanding is that they are one an the same.... Quote Link to comment
Wesley Burrows
Just now, markdd said: My understanding is that they are one an the same.... Interesting. Since I can't actually draw anything with it, it's hard to say 🙂 My apologies for incorrect information. Quote Link to comment
markdd
Ha. You are so right to be irritated. I believe this tool has existed for a couple of years now and has been introduced as new to Spotlight users with v2019. I can’t quite believe it doesn’t work as it is wrapped up with the new Braceworks tools. Quote Link to comment
SCParker
Are we talking about doing this? I had to add the tool into my workspace for the beam. 1 Quote Link to comment
markdd
Yes. I suspect the problem lies with Spotlight Licence Users. Do you have Designer? Quote Link to comment
SCParker
I do have designer. It's a good point that spotlight should have this if VW is adding these house points tool. I'll put in a request. I found it here. I don't have a way of seeing what's in Spotlight only version of VW. 1 Quote Link to comment
LMorga
That looks like you may have found the issue, I am using Spotlight & Braceworks Edited September 18, 2018 by LMorga Typo Quote Link to comment
markdd
The tool has been added to the Spotlight Licence, however, it doesn't work for any Spotlight users just yet. I contacted tech support here in the UK and apparently it is on the list of things to fix.... Quote Link to comment
SCParker
I've put in a request to add that tool to Spotlight. Since it's now needed to really use the new bridle tools, etc... Hopefully, they'll add it. Quote Link to comment

SCParker
well, in that case, perhaps they'll change my request into a bug report. 1 Quote Link to comment
