Is this intended behaviour - 3d move relative to working plane

line-weight

Question

See attached screen recording.

Whenever I move something in 3d with working plane activated, I'm a bit confused as to how VW decides whether I want to

(a) place it on the working plane, using a snap point elsewhere as reference

(b) place it directly on the snap point I choose.

As you can see in the screen recording, in this case I am moving a line. The 'preview' (as you see around 0.07 in the recording) of its final position shows it sitting on the working plane, relative to the snap point I've activated. But when I release the mouse, where it *actually* sits is attached to the snap point itself.

In this instance, (b) is what I wanted. Sometimes though, what I want is (a).

Is this behaviour intentional?

Is this not what the snap to working plane button is meant to control?

Ah. Ok. I see that it makes a difference as to where the object ends up.

However it remains the case that whether I've got that button on or not, the object's landing position is 'previewed' as if sliding along the working plane.
