Bruce Kieffer
I have my docked palettes stacked on both sides of my Vectorworks document window. It seems that every time I quit Vectorworks and reopen it, the palette heights are changed. I readjust them, do a "Save Palette Positions," quit and restart, and they are goofed up again. zoomer
I think mine stay where they are (?) But is there anything stored in the VWX file ? I remember opening VWX from forums which where saved on a smaller screen and I had to pull these to full screen, so palettes have to change of course (relatively ?) If that happens for the same file for you, I would think it is time to delete your VW Prefs plist. But please wait for other opinions before you do. Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
It happens with all of my files. I need to check on my MacBook Pro 15" Retina to see if it happens there. Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
I'm going to watch for it now. I have had a few times where it has felt like their height has changed from where I put it.... but I thought I was imagining it. KM Quote Link to comment
Andy Broomell
This drives me absolutely batty! I've attached a photo to illustrate the small but annoying difference between how it usually opens versus what I've set up and saved. michaelk
I'm seeing the same thing. I use a 15" MBP and I plug in several different monitors per day. I've always assumed that switching the screen size messed it up. But maybe it's more than that. mk Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Hmmh, looks like palette sizes stays here. It is not easy to dock self expanding Snapping box and Attribute Palette at the first time. But once all palettes included on the left and resized, it seems to keep positions. Only one 30" Monitor, all Files View Sizes in ALT+"green light" maximized state only. Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
I have to wonder if this is a bug introduced in SP3. I don't recall having the issue before. How I set it and save it: [img:left]https://www.dropbox.com/s/d34d7o4hyje0j5q/Screen%20Shot%202016-05-23%20at%207.05.07%20AM.png?dl=0[/img] How it opens: Edited May 23, 2016 by Bruce Kieffer Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Looks like it middles out these boxes when you reopen the file. I tried and resized them, it is kept for me. But I have not only 2 but 3 boxes docked. Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
Looks like it middles out these boxes when you reopen the file. I want it in the middle, it opens it about between 1/3 and 2/3s split. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted May 23, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 23, 2016 I just got this to happen as well, but I wasn't able to force it to happen a second time. I will keep an eye on them and see if I can replicate for the bug report. Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
Still a problem with me and SP4. I have my OIP and Navigation palette stacked on the right side of my project window. I split them height-wise 50/50, "Save Palette Positions (which I should not even have to do since the workspace should remember this on it's own), quit VW, open VW, and the heights are about 33%/66% OIP to Navigation. Bruce Kieffer
This was fixed in Vectorworks 2017, but it's now reappeared in SP1. Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
I figured this out, but I think it's a bug. It appears my Working Planes palette was docked with my OIP and Navigation palette, and even though it was not visible, Vectorworks makes room for it each time Vectorworks is booted. So I undocked the Working Planes palette from the other two, and now the heights of the other two say set correctly. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
I always had my Working Planes Palette on the left side, which always kept docked positions. On the right side I had 3 Palettes : OIP, Navigation and Resource Browser. But no Working Planes Palette That was when VW 2016 changed proportions after each start. As we have Ressource Manager, I have only OIP and NavP docked on the right side. And they seem to stay (not 100% sure) this way. So you think it would loose positions if I would dock Working Planes Palette to the right ? Or is it just a problem to have more than 2 Palettes of any kind ? Quote Link to comment

The test is to add your Working Planes palette to the right column with the OIP on top, and the Navigation palette in the middle, and WP on bottom. Then close the WP palette, size the other two palettes to be near equal height, quit Vectorworks, restart Vectorworks, what's it look like? As far as your second question, that would require testing.
