VW 2010 Export to 12.5

Exporting from Vectorworks 2010 to VW 12.5 takes a extremely long time, 45 min+. Any suggestions as to why or remedies?

Thanks for the response, yes a big file.

I found the cause of the issue, some corrupted symbols. They bloated a 30 meg file to over 277 mbs!! After stripping out the bad symbols it is back to 33 mbs and zips through saving and exporting.

Where can you find the export command to Vector Works 12.5?

I only have File>Export>Export to Vectorworks 2008 & 2009 in the menu. I tried to edit the workspace by trying to add 12.5 there too...but I can't find it!

katja the file format for Vw 12.5 is the same as for Vw 12 so all you need to do is export to Vw 12.

The .5 releases were interim enhancement releases between major versions back when the version cycle was 18 months. Now that the version cycle is 12 months these interim releases no longer occur.

It's not in the list...all I have is 2008 & 2009...and I don't find the vw12 version in the workspace editor either. waaah!

If I had to guess I would say you are using a custom workspace. Try switching to one the "stock" workspaces and see if it's there. You can also add it to your current workspace via the Workspace Editor.

I can see from your screen shot that you are using the educational version. The educational version is limited to exporting to only the two previous versions.
