Vertical Truss Arch

I need to create some free standing truss archs. Creating the curved truss is obviously no problem. How do I rotate this truss to an upright position? Hanging angle doesn't do it. I've tried converting the truss to a symbol and editing, but VW won't allow me to rotate it on other than the Z axis.

I'm sure that there is a very simple solution, but I'm just not seeing it.

Thanks,

Bud - it cannot be rotated because it is a Hybrid Object with separate 2D and 3D views. Rotating the 3D object would make a nonsense of the 2D view in Top / Plan View.

If you convert it to a group in Top / Plan View you will be left with a 3D object which you can rotate. (It will have lost all of its parametric capability though.)

You could then draw your desired 2D view over the top of the 3D component and create a new Hybrid Symbol.

Check the "Draw 3D Only" obx in the OIP. This will make the object 3D only and then you can rotate it with the 3D rorate tool. If you want to use it to apear in 2D as a lighting position object, you will have to make a symbol out of it after you ratate it and manually draw a 2D representation.

OK I'm really confused.

I'm trying to just do vertical trusses.

I am using 12 and see no draw in 3d only in the Object Info box. I DO see show 3D detail.

Also if I convert the trusses to group, the 3D options get grayed out.

When you say 12 you mean VW version 12?

I don't think the the 3d only option came out until vw2008. It was a frustrating feature for everyone, back in the day.
