Snap to Face of Stud

Hello!

 

We dimension not from the face of a wall, but from the face of stud, but I cannot find a way to snap to a wall component in Vectorworks and have been manually offsetting a line in from the face of the wall and dimensioning to that line. Am I overlooking a more streamlined solution to dimension to a wall component? Surely there's a setting that I've not yet found that will allow this practice.

I believe setting the Master Snap Points of the appropriate wall components gives them "priority" while snapping.  However, it does not turn off the other snap points.

Another way….that I often use to quickly, easily, dimension to face of studs, is to simply make invisible the other wall components.

Give it a try 🙂

Great idea, especially with saved views with the classes adjusted as needed.

@E|FA Dimensioning can be a pain at times, but this approach takes some of the pain away 🙂
