brody98
Hi Just seeing if anyone has any tips to replicate a glass fence panel as seen in the image attached Edited July 28, 2023 by brody98 Quote Link to comment
Popular Post Benson Shaw
Maybe could do this with fence or other tool, but parameters and hardware might be a pain. Pretty easy to model this. Almost all extrudes unless really detailed hardware. Create a separate symbol for each item (each size of glass panel, deck bracket, hinge, maybe some corner hardware? Assemble the various repeating units into symbols and duplicate them to surround the pool. Attached vwx v2023 has blow by blow on separate layers for the glass panel (just an extrude) and the deck brackets (estimated the dimensions, so a bit out of scale - use a spec if available) -B Glass Pool Wall.vwx Edited July 29, 2023 by Benson Shaw symbolic logic 7 Quote Link to comment

Or instead of Move by Points you could try using the 'Repetitive Unit' tool... Although that seems to give you a horrible polyline you can't get rid of... But quite nice to end up with the run of panels as a single object you can resize/move. 3 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Popular Post Peter Neufeld. Posted October 22, 2023 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Popular Post Share Posted October 22, 2023 Hello, Now that the new Fence tool is here in v2024 it is possible to do this. My illustrious colleague @Ben Beaumont has made some styles for our Australian users which I include here and he might have more to say. There is a 'Coffee Break' webinar on the Vectorworks Uni that is about the Fence tool. Pool fence.vwx Cheers, Peter 5 Quote Link to comment
VIRTUALENVIRONS
Modelling a glass fence is relatively basic, but glass itself is computationally expensive and complicated. The mix of transparency, reflection and refraction make it one of the most frustrating things to render clearly. (no pun intended). The image below took 45 minutes to render using Global Illumination. OK for a still, but not for animation. Everything modelled in VW2018 and rendered in C4D. 2 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Ben Beaumont Posted October 22, 2023 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 22, 2023 Thank you @Peter Neufeld.. It took some tweaking, but I got it working (mostly) by considering neighbouring spigots as a single post. We just end up with an orphaned spigot at the end of a run, that's all. But that's easily fixed by ungrouping and deleting. The handgate works nicely - with the safety latches and self closing hinges included. @brody98 you'll find the Swimming Pool (glass) Fence Style options in the tool selector under ANZ Swimming Pool AS1926.1 ... 2 Quote Link to comment
