Missing section of cut plane lines: Horizontal Section Viewport

line-weight

Question

Can anyone work out why this bit of line is missing? We are looking at a Horizontal Section Viewport here.

I have attached a file that should open into the relevant sheet layer.

- This file is stripped right down from the actual file this is occurring in.

- If I copy & paste the elements into a new file, and make a horizontal section viewport with the same settings (as far as I can work out), the problem doesn't occur

- Moving the wall ends away from each other as per video seems to stop it happening

- The short wall contains a window; removing the window seems to stop it happening.

I think you have to clean it up with the Wall Connection Healing Tool first.

(By dragging the Marquee over the related area(s))

AFAIK you need to redo your connections again after using the Tool.

The "remove wall breaks" tool?

Have tried that several times without success. The walls are not supposed to be joined/connected, just touching each other.

Ah, it has a name ... yes, that is what I meant.

And it does not work. Strange.

I had to use it quite extensively recently and it worked in my cases.

As Tom answered, I now also realized the demo file.

Same result.

If I move the left Wall end a few nanometers up,

I also get the expected result.

So one of VW's creative and pragmatic workarounds,

(Like manually drawing the missing line in annotations or so ...)

I wouldn't do/accept any of both either ...

...or use Top/Plan + no need for workarounds...

Just a whole bunch of different workarounds.

Here's the actual detail I'm in the process of producing. The two orange walls in the file attached with this thread are just two that I've isolated.

At the bottom is my horizontal section viewport, where you can see the various missing lines (there are actually more than in my simplified file). These can actually be fixed without too much bother in annotations (missing lines are better than extraneous lines, generally).

At the top is what it looks like in top plan. There are numerous elements I'd have to class for visibility, or turn into auto hybrids, and so on. And I want this section cut below the window sill, not sure how I'd even do that in top/plan.

All possible somehow I'm sure but my conclusions from trying both routes in the past have been that horizontal sections are less painful.

This remains a mystery.

Maybe @Matt Panzer can help? It does appear to have something to do with openings in walls, because it only happens when there's a window present in that wall section.

Interesting issue.  It only seems to happen if the window is within a certain distance from the end of the wall adjacent to the other wall if the two walls are touching.  I cannot think of any way to fix this.

I reported a bug for this issue (VB-195367).
