Stability Issues

Not sure if it started with SP4 - but we are having many more crashes and freezes now.  Crashes used to be understandable - asking a complex operation - now switching between sheets or layers, drawing a rectangle, or deleting an object can all cause these unrecoverable freezes and crashes.  VW and Windows are not happy with each other.  Just updated all the machines to 64 GB in hopes that would help - but seeming no improvement.  4th crash today.

That is my feeling too. That´s one of the reasons why we didn´t update to vw23.

VW often freezes by simple tasks like moving 3d objects with the mouse by drag and release in 3d space, or selecting many objects.

PushPullTool freezes often the whole program when you try to select a face within a complex model. Even faces are selected within symbols, that are inside hidden classes.

For me it feels that SP4 brought more and other problems than SP3 had to offer...

I am the only one in our office who is testing vw before we roll it out to all others and currently i think we will skip this version if SP5 is not a huge improvement.

Unfortunately that is a trend that I notice since a few years.

In the past a VW SP 0-3 or macOS X 1-3 was less reliable than

anything upwards.

With VW I experience pretty reliability in SP 0 and the more SP

rising, I start notice the first issues myself.

Same for macOS, since using the Public Beta, I experience no issues

until the final release. But as it is tedious to get interrupted with new

releases and reboots every few weeks, at a X.3 Version I feel pausing

the public Beta but that final X.3 release makes old issues reappear

and I am already back to Public Beta.

 

That doesn't make any sense but it is just my experience.

 

On VW it may be that I also notice an issue, said to be fixed in SP X,

once SP arrived I can confirm that it works, but read about so many

(increasing?) new issues others users having ....

(That I even want to ask for a no new features stop again)

 

Honestly I am actually happy that I do not personally experience much

of the many issues I read of on this Forum. I experience VW as a more

than reasonable reliableApp on my M1 Mac.

 

But of course I feel with anyone here experience severe productivity

hindering issues, that can't immediately solved as a user/setup error

on the forum here.

@Tom KlaberCan you provide us with some of these crash reports? Also, could you toggle the Accelerate Graphics on the Display option in the Vectorworks preferences? Could you see if anything changes? Thanks.

I have turned off Accelerated Graphics.  I will let you know if I see a difference.
