  1. quote: The Objects from Polyline command seems to create walls for every selected polyline in the document. This problem had been fixed in 10.1.2. Objects from Polyline command generates VectorWorks walls.(Curved and Staight) In order to represent a bezier curve the polyline is converted to simple straight and arc segments.
  2. Please send the file to klinzey@nemetschek.net and I will take a look at it. Kevin
  3. Information is generated from the Circuit Number Field in the Lighting Device. Blank Circuit Number Fields will generate a requirement of 1 circuit and # of units-1 2fers. [ 03-26-2003, 10:52 AM: Message edited by: klinzey ]
  4. The symbol defines the beam and field angle. In order to adjust the beam and field angle you have to edit the symbol and make the change globaly. If you want to have a different beam and field angle for a fixture you will need to create a new symbol.
  5. The only way to edit information about the lamp is to edit the record attached to the symbol. Once you are in the edit symbol window, deselect all. The data should show in the data pane of the OIP. If the object is already deselected when the edit widow opens, the information should automatically be displayed in the data pane of the OIP. If you are not seeing this behavior, send me details on machine and I will check the behavior.
  6. Make sure that your image size is 2" x 2". Begin with these rendering settings: Detail : Low Use Shadows : ON Shadow Mapped Shadows : ON Use Ray Tracing : ON Recursion Level : 2 Use Textures : ON Use Transparency : ON Use Anti-Aliasing : ON Use NURBS : OFF Also try using a different file format. I have found a few source files that worked better if they were .tiff or .gif.
  7. This is probably caused by a page origin being moved. Until the bug is fixed, the best way to fix it is to set the page origin back to (0,0).
  8. The original question was about curved truss. With Straight Truss, there is a "Hanging Angle" parameter that controls the tilt of the truss, 90 will stand the truss on end. "Rotation" will cause the truss to spin on it's axis. [ 03-17-2003, 09:31 AM: Message edited by: klinzey ]
  9. That should be OIP, Object Info Pallet.
  10. In Spotlight 9: Configure the truss. Go into a 3D view. Select the truss and ungroup and regroup. This change the truss from a PIO to a simple Group, so you will no be able to change parameters any longer. You can now use the 3D rotate tool to rotate the truss. In Spotlight 10: Check the Draw3D Only box on the IOP. Grab the 3D rotate tool and rotate the truss. You can reconfigure the truss even after it has been rotated.
  11. Make sure that the "Device Type" says "Light". I have seen some documents lately that have the Device Type feild empty. These instruments will export, but will not show in Find and Modify. If this doesn't help send me(klinzey@nemetschek.net) the drawing an I will take a look at it. The fastest to see if you have any of these problem instruments is to make a custom selection. Select only : Field value : Decice Type : = : or run this script: DSelectAll; SelectObj(('Light Info Record'.'Device Type'=''));
  12. Import the Light Info Record from another file if it does not exist. Edit the 2d symbol definition. De-Select everything. Change to the Data pane in the IOP. Check the box next to the Light Info Record to attach the record. Fill out the data. Exit the symbol. The step that most people miss is to De-Select before attaching the record. You can take a look at Appendix-A for some more detailed instructions.
  13. Edit the 3D portion of the symbol. It should be a sweep. Is it swept 360 deg or 180 deg? Edit the 2d componect of the sweep. Is it a full half or quarter section of the Par? The render does best with a quarter section of the par swept 360 deg. It should work with a section sewpt 180 deg. It doesn't like it when the section is swept 360 deg. If you edit the symbol def, it should fix all of the instrumnets on your plot.

    recursion

Yes, VW10 (as well as VW8 and VW9) can handle recursive functions.
  15. quote: In the drawing I am working on, I laid out my instruments first before assigning (or even creating) a label legend. When I did make the legend, I started converting my symbols to fixtures, but then I had to tell manually assign the active legend to each unit. Shouldn't the legend automatically assign to the symbols when I convert? This is on the wish list for the next version. For now, you can select mutiple instruments and run the Assign Legend to Instruments command. quote: Also, does VW have to change an object's class to NONE when it is grouped with others? The group is in the "None" class, but the objects withing the group will still be in the classes they were asigned. This allows you to control the visibality of objects within the group.
  16. It's a pain, but enter ='0002' into the cell.
  17. Spotlight 10 is scheduled for release in early 2003. Please contact sales directly reguarding upgrading a recent purchase of VectorWorks 9.5. They have all the details. 1-888-646-4223 (sales@nemetschek.net)
  18. Change the 3D Resolution parameter on the object info palette to a lower number.
  19. Things to check: Make sure all your classes are visable. Set view options to show/snap/modify other for both layers and classes.(This is usually the problem when things don't appear) Edit the symbol. Select edit 3D Component. Hit Control(apple)-A to select all. Look at the Object info palette, it should tell you how many objects are selected. Then Fit to objects. (the unit may be at some odd location) HTH
  20. Once you add the .mcd extension it should open. If it doesn't open then it it probably a bad file. I would recomend zipping or stuffing the file first if it is traviling via email.
  21. Many of the plugin objects will accept a texture that is assigned by class or in the texture pane. Some objecst have a "Style" pop-up. These objects allow you to texture different parts of the object by assigning a texture to the "Syle-#" class. If all sels fails, then you will have to ungroup the object then assign a texture.
  22. I know you can ungroup and then assign the texture, but I will no longer be a PIO. You can also try palcing the curtain in a class and assigning the texture to the class.
  23. As long as you can create new instruments in a blank file in 9.5.2, send me the 9.5.0 file and I will take a look at it. klinzey@nemetschek.net If you can not create instruments in 9.5.2 then you will need to reinstall SpotLight.
  24. It's a limitation of the program. The insertion point for all labels must be inside of the box.
