  1. I'm almost positive I've used this option before... Now I can't figure out how...
  2. I kinda have resigned myself to this being the case. Still, thanks for the confirmation of the undesired. Yes, but a bit of an aggravating workaround, especially prone to error, especially with a lotta layout sheets. I'll give it a whirl.
  3. I'm wondering why I cannot seem to use OpenGL for Background Render, Wireframe for Foreground Render and STILL keep View set to Top/Plan. I've attached two grabs of the part layouts I'm working with--there are various PIOs whose dimensions disappear when the View switches to Top. The dimensions still visible in OpenGL are from decomposed PIOs. Any help/explanation is appreciated.
  4. You might want to check-out this very handy tip by gmm18. Once set up, it's very quick. Image Posting for Mac
  5. Tools>Smart Cursor Settings>Grids>Grid Options or double-click on Constraints palette or Command+8
  6. No such preference in 2009 pref window. Raymond Mullin helpfully posted a 1-line script in this thread: - 2D loci, what happened to the X-Y dotted lines?
  7. SQE- Don't know if this helps you, but I'm using pretty much identical hardware (and same video card) and not experiencing what you describe. I also drive an external monitor (24" NEC). Maybe the issue is outside of VW? What Mac OS? Just checking: Have you run Software Update (for latest drivers)? Any issues with other apps?
  8. Thanks Mike and Raymond for explaining our error. Do I ever feel silly. I can't believe I only recently (mis)understood the misleading rulers....and thought I had checked locations with 3D loci, but must have been rushing too much. Will be un-bug submitting.
  9. Hmmmm. Curiouser and curiouser. Bug report submitted. Maybe Michaelk can help out?
  10. I just noticed the same behavior. Attached is a fresh file with the following steps: 1. Created 4"(102mm) x 4" (102mm)x 4"(102mm) Extruded Rectangle, center at grid origin in plan, bottom at Z=0 2. Moved grid origin (plan view only) by X=-1 1/2 , Y= +1 1/2 3. Cube bottom is now at Z=-1 1/2 4. "Uh-oh". Is it time for bug submit?
  11. How about "Select All" to find the viewport crop--that might work. BTW, double-posting is a no-no.
  12. Attaching the file would be best. When in the Posting Form, at the bottom there is a blue link to the File Manager. For images, if you are a Mac user, see CommForum107262 It would also be helpful to post a signature with OS, VW version, basic machine specs, etc.
  13. I quickly modeled something approximating your process, and got the expected results. (See attached) Have you tried with a fresh NURBS? You may want to post the file.
  14. Yes, you are correct--one can create libraries and interiorcad ships with some. Furthermore, there are numerous levels of saved settings, favorites, and presets which can be employed for the quick creation of cabinets "not from scratch".
  15. You may want to contact extragroup directly to find out the options for your area.
  16. Taoist- Mouldings like you describe are done with regular VW commands like Extrude and Extrude Along Path. If they are rectilinear profiles they can be done with interiorcad's Cabinetmaker dialog. I often use Plinth to create light rails (it's just a name of a parametric command). Top Scribe could be used for a crown. With either, however, the moulding is associated with one unit. If there is a run of units and a continuous moulding is desired, then the end projection can be adjusted. I use interiorcad a lot, and am always glad that if a particular project has aspects that are not readily modeled with interiorcad's quick parametrics or tools, I can always (and seamlessly) use VW.
  17. ...and yet another way....directly edit NURBS curve mathematically via OIP works readily for rectilinear "curves"
  18. Yes, I would like this too. Chamfer previously wish-listed.
  19. AndiCAD- No, unfortunately Extrude Along Path does not like symbols, even 2D ones. It finds them to be illegal (and sends them to jail). I third or fourth this wish, which has been wished for before.
  20. I can't replicate the odd behavior you describe, though I am on a different OS. Have you tried the operation in a blank file? Do you want to post file, others can take a look? Unfortunately, so far as I know, we are all baffled by this one... ....and your workflow is standard. Another option with repeated Ext Along Paths is to create duplicates/mirrors/etc. and replace Paths with new ones required, being sure whatever 2D operation created the Path has been converted to NURBS and oriented correctly to ground plane. That way at least the Profile is at the correct insertion...but still not so efficient.
  21. No problem. Good luck! If you do try VW, use this TechBoard to help with learning--it's a groovy asset.
  22. Dexter- That's a Service Pack that won't help you w/o the main app. I'm not sure about these details, but I don't think NNA offers a totally free trial. I think you can buy it, use it for 30-days, and be refunded if it's not working out. Contact NNA sales
  23. Search under "Revit"....sample thread VW Techboard Revit and BIM
  24. There are lots of elements to rendering, and lots of things to slow it down. Various manuals cover in depth, but some quick rules of thumb, in addition to those already mentioned: Keep light sources to a minimum, i.e. do not try to replicate real world Avoid line lights and area lights Avoid complex textures with bump maps, maybe reflectivity maps Minimize transparencies/reflectivities Tinker with settings in Custom RW, though Open GL will always be faster... HTH. BTW, you're on the bleeding edge with 10.5.6 !!??
