  1. Duplicating and moving is not an offset operation - if you offset an arc for example, you will get a arc with smaller or larger radius but with the same angle span - which is different from just moving it. The ofset tool also behaves diffrently when a number of connected objects are offset - e.g. offsetting a number of connected walls.
  2. Walls, roofs, floors etc are tagged internally in VectorWorks as "structural" elements. Since you are not using conventional building objects - it's a bit difficult. You may write a script which does the folowing on the selected object: SetObjectVariableBoolean(handle,702,TRUE); 702 is the structural property that you can assign to the object. Once assigned, this will be picked up by the section viewport mechanism.
  3. Are these dimensions in the annotation of the viewports? If that is so it is very surprising. Please submit a bug at bugsubmit@nemetschek.net with one of these files as a test case.
  4. They work only if you assign attributes to objects by class. Are you using attributes by class?
  5. I think in 11.5.1, if you had the Scale with line thickness property turned on for dash style, it would change only if the thikness is changed. Try turning this flag off in the Edit Dash dialog for the particulr dash style (Page->Set Attribute Defaults->Dash Style). This has since being changed to scale always irrespective of this property in 12.0.
  6. The 3ds exporter is part of the core program and is not a plug-in. Specifically what files related to 3ds are you seeing in your plug-ins folder?
  7. The cause for this might be that you have Create Solid Check box turned on and it is trying to add the several surfaces together into a single solid and failing. In preview it just displays the surfaces and hence suceesfull.
  8. Just create a hemisphere of radius 25'. Then shell it using Shell Solid Tool using a thickness of 1' and selecting the bottom cap (be careful to select the bottom cap as the selection of the spherical face and botom cap looks the same). You can also create another hemisphere of 24' and subtract from the larger hemisphere. Then go to the front view or some such view where you see the elevation of the hemisphere and split the hemisphere using a line 10' below the topmost point of the hemisphere - you may need to construct a locus or a line for this step.
  9. In VW12 you can turn on Layer Stacking - which automatically stacks the layers and turns the visibility of 2D objects off.
  10. I am using the same procedure that you are - and I am having no problems at all. The two factors that may affect the procedure (although not likely) is the snap radius and 2d conversion resolution. What are these settings for you?
  11. The criteria is simple - g1 continuity (tangency). If the path is g1 discontinuous, scale option is grayed out. I think when drawing the arcs one needs to make sure that the tangency constraint is what s/he is getting.
  12. This problem was introduced in 11.5 as far as I remember and fixed in 11.5.1. Are they working with 11.5.1? The version the file was last saved is very important - becuase that would indicate if the damage was done permamnently to the files or not.
  13. Robocad, I would request you to submit a bug report using bugsubmit@nemetschek.net. It seems to me that some of the steps in your overall process is generating geometry that VectorWorks is not able to handle. While modeling complicated parts, the basic rule of thumb that I try to adhere to is to have the least number of vertices in the profile that you are trying to use for generating 3D objects.
  14. No. The only thing possible across sheet layers is to Update them using View->Update All Viewports.
  15. May be you want to turn the 3D conversion resolution VectorWorks preference to low or medium before rendering in hidden line.
  16. I think the problem here may be that you have 3D snapping (snap to edge points checkbox in the 3D snapping dialog when you double click on the Snap To Object button in the constraint palette) ON. You may want to turn it off.
  17. May be I am missing something here, but I just tried this - and it seems to work for me - both in screen and printing.
  18. Have you tried viewport class override? If the walls/floors are drawn by class, and if in SVP you have the option to use original attributes is ON, you can then override the attributes of the wall/floor class to the graphics style that you like.
  19. If you can, please submit a bug thru bugsubmit@nemetschek.net and we will look into fixing this issue.
  20. The model didn't have the walls extended to the roof, for some reason. And yes, the kitchen has the old version of cabinets.
  21. It should work in both cases.
  22. Use Model->Create Image prop menu to create these. The auto-rotating feature is a check box on the object info palette.
  23. Section lines automatically show up on the design layer or the viewport on which you invoked the Create Section Viewport command. All other imstances of section lines have to be deliberately added using the Section line Instances dialog that is invoked when you press Section Line Instances button in the object info palette. You need to turn the section line drawing ON in specific viewports or design layers.
  24. How are you updating the viewports before exiting the Edit Annotation mode? Can you please elaborate how the viewport becomes corrupt?
  25. Please submit a bug with the relevant info using: http://www.nemetschek.net/support/bugsubmit.php
