  1. as well as Mike?s suggestion, you can also use the Split tool. The split by point will split the wall normal to the wall direction, the split by line can split the wall at any angle.. Then as mike says, add the cap.
  2. there is a datastamp object that can place the date, time and filename in the drawing. Of if you have an Industry series VectorWorks then the title block can have the file name on it
  3. try the eyedropped tool. Click on the eyedropper preferences and turn off everything except for plug-in parameters. This will match properties
  4. i found that before these two books make any sense you need to understand how programing works, particularly algorithmic program languages. Here is an excerpt from some of my course notes... The books that have proved most useful are the ones that offer programming basics. Sometimes you find that a book on programming C++ will have 3 really good chapters on programming basics. I will be quoting from two books that I have found useful: ? The C++ Programming Language by Bjarne Stroustrap. Published by Addison Wesley 1995 ? Teach Yourself Algorithm by Anthony Ralston & Hugh Neill. Published by Hodder & Stoughton 1997. The reason that these books have been good is that the VectorWorks books assume that you have some programming skills. But that is the real problem, unless you have the programming skills the Language Guide is a foreign language. hope that helps
  5. I run VectorWorks on both a dual G5 and a G4ibook (1GHz). I find that the ibook runs VectorWorks really well, all except big renderings. The extra screen the wv_vectorworker talks about would be great. For all day work the big machine with 2 monitors is tops, for the ability to work anywhere in the office the ibook is tops. You have to figure out which one you want. Do do this ask yourself this: is mobility more important than power? If the answer is YES, then get a powerbook, if the answer is NO, then get a G5 machine
  6. as a plug-in object you can search for it's t (type) = Pluginobject if your plug in object name is test then you can search for a record that is test
  7. Larry, can you email me directly later. I might be able to find a step by step that might help. My architect manual has a property line with a curve...
  8. when you use sindoor to make a corner window, stop your wall short of the corner and use draw windoor objects to draw the corner windows. Then turn on the wall above and below. That way you can have the corner window and have mitred corner joints.
  9. Or you can double-click on the Snap to Grid Constraint and turn the grid of there...
  10. after updating I would choose one of the standard workspaces to see if more of the export options came up. I have all of them available.
  11. try holing down the option key when minimising a palette. It doesn?t close them all but the get real small
  12. I have a Mac with safari and the help works fine on safari. All the links work and the index works fine. Mine works on my G5 desktop machine and my g4 iBook. I have lots of memory and I?m using the latest safari...
  13. the Style# name is hard coded into the plugin, so you can?t change it...
  14. what about trying the constrain tools? have you had a try of these tools? i have started to play with them and they are pretty neat, but i have found them to be a bit buggy when using them with walls
  15. Christiaan, i know why you have so much trouble getting people into BIM. it's because you were trained better... :-)
  16. Christiaan, i've always had trouble maintaining plug-ins when you upgrade a VW version. of course there are sites that you can go to and get bits from here and there, but it is lot of effort. Since NZ went to the localised version i have only had to maintain my tools and it has been a lot easier. So, yes I agree, NNA could do this a lot better. But then so could your distributor. Remember that NNA has given the distributor the ability and responsibility to localise VW for their area. Why not ask your distributor why they don't include these things that you need?
  17. Each distributor has the ability to localise VW for their country, any country could, if they wanted to, add Julian's windoor manager and other cool tools. It's probably not money, it's probably desire (or logistics) that stops some distributors including all the cool tools from all round the world. Some of Julian's tools are available directly from Julian's web site: http://www.ozcad.com.au
  18. everyone should down load this and use it when they get into touble. Jim, does this not download from my site?
  19. if you are still having trouble, this topic is covered in my Architect tutorial : https://vesta.safe-order.net/archoncad/manuals/manuals.php
  20. no Phil, don?t convert to groups... the new plug-in doors still have the styles, but at the bottom of the Object Info Palette you have to choose the styles to apply to the components. Then use the class setup dialog box to make sure that the classes are set to ?Use at Creation?...
  21. then there is something wrong, because I've just tried it and this is exactly how it should work. Are you in a network situation? Why can?t you create a new wall style? There is an add button on the dialog box. Doesn?t this work?
  22. choose a wall type before running the create wall from polyline. This command uses the last wall type selected.
  23. classes? Do you have classes that are turned off in the viewports? Do the roof have solid fill?
