  1. Hi... Does this happen when one particular file is open? or does it occur with any file?
  2. Hi... Is this what you are looking for? http://www.nemetschek.net/downloads/notes/2011SP4_Notes.php I wasn't aware of an update myself. Thank you for informing me though...
  3. Hi... Try... Document Preferences > Display Tab > Uncheck 'Save Viewport Cache' See how much difference that makes for you. It was significant (almost 10 times) for me on one of my files.
  4. Hi... This is the correct function of the tool... but only when you have NO image (resource) in that particular document. If you already have existing images as a resource, then you will get the dialog that you remember. Hope this answers your Q!
  5. Hi... I do not believe this is possible with the standard VW window plug-in (If it is, someone please comment). I usually create a symbol of my 'completely round' window and 'convert' it to a window plug-in, so it reads as a window in wall, and not just symbol in wall...
  6. Hi... Ensure to edit you hidden line options however, and change the smoothing angle for curved objects. Like toilets for example... Or else you could end up with TOO MANY LINES to handle for such a simple object! Just a tip...
  7. Agreed. But, wouldn't call it a pattern style. And whilst we're here... A custom (camera) view of the thumbnail symbol.
  8. Hi... The reason it shows for some and not others (at least in design layers) is because that particular layer is visible in the navigation palette, whilst the others are invisible. If they were grayed, that particular icon (or the one corresponding to the view that layer is in), will also be grayed in the drop down menu. But yes, THAT icon DOES mean Top/Plan... I've had a file where there is a 3D icon in sheet layer that had (and still has) me puzzled. Have not had a chance to investigate that one yet!
  9. Hi... As you are able to pick up the '11' rows, then I am guessing that your criteria is relatively correct. It is always good to check it though and ensure that it is. Have you placed the information you want (in formula format) into the database header? It would be something along the lines of... =('RECORD FORMAT NAME'.'FIELD NAME') ... Where the RECORD FORMAT NAME is the exact name of the record format you created in your Resource Browser, and the FIELD NAME is the exact name of the particular field, eg. Number of Bedrooms Do you wish to count the number of instances that a particular type of building occurs? How is your stat worksheet intended to be laid out?
  10. Hi... I am assuming that this file that you received is a Vectorworks file. There are a few ways you can do this... 1. Easiest way would be when ever you require a resource, just go to the resource browser and click on the little triangular arrow at the top right of the palette, and select 'Browse a Document'. Thereafter, navigate to and open the file you received. This will bring all the available resources into your resource browser, at which point you can 'import' them into your current document. 2. You can create a new document, and place all the resources (only) into it and place it in your 'favorites' folder in your user folder. Alternatively you can place the received file (or a copy of it) in the same location as it is, but the file would be much larger and therefore would take longer to open. The list of files in the resource browser would then include THIS favorite for easy access. 3. For your fill attributes (hatches, gradients, etc.), you can place files with these in the corresponding folder of your user folder ... Libraries/Defaults/... This would give you access to these attributes straight from your attributes palette in EVERY document without having to go and search for it each time. Hope this gives you an idea of how you can achieve what you desire!
  11. Hi... Edit the reference, and uncheck 'Save Reference Cache to Disk'. This will mean that the file will update automatically on open, but the file size should be smaller. The reference references the entire file, but due to viewports, you are able to control what you see and don't see.
  12. Yes... Symbol would need to be duplicated in order to achieve different sized tags. I guess everything has it's benefits and disadvantages which may differ from user to user. For instance, that tool can automate tags with more than just one text string of data. And maybe you wish (for instance) to have the room number show up larger than the other room data. This method allows the flexibility to do so, as opposed to having one size for ALL the data (with that particular tag). A symbol also means that only one instance would have to be edited to change all other instances. Imagine a massive building with many rooms, and to have to go to or select each space and modify. It's a change from what you are used to, a change for the good for some (others), although I do not recall using the tool as much prior to VW2011. If I do remember though, they were not symbols in 2010. I would not go as far as to say that they've broken it. It is more refined and expanded. And as a user, I have not encountered anything major about it (as yet).
  13. Hi... May not be WHY it is happening in your cases, but sometimes it is due to having rotated plan switched on. Ensure that all layers are in top plan (not rotated) and see if it still occurs for you. It is annoying sometimes in annotations of a sheet layer when a design layer is rotated, and zooming in makes stuff disappear. Let us know if this works for you...
  14. I myself have not (yet) investigated the benefits (or disadvantages) of using the 'Model Setup' option. But I believe that there are other features (such as standard viewports) tied in with it. I will have to explore this option soon to see what it is all about...
  15. Strange... It works for me (in VW2011). I would have thought it should do the same in VW2008. I basically set up the file with the 'Model Setup' having various floors at different Z heights, and saved the template in the corresponding template folder in my user folder. Opened a new doc where I selected the (just created) template, and ALL the (model) layers I had generated were there. Could be a VW2008 thing (if you did it the same way and it DIDN'T work), but that defeats the purpose of having a template! Try it again...
  16. Hi... I believe you can... Define your model and 'Save As Template'. Name to suit the particular type of building. Your settings should be saved, and you can easily select the type by selecting the corresponding template on 'New File'.
  17. Hi... again... As mentioned before, the font size has to be edited in a 1:1 scale environment. This can be easily done on a sheet layer. Make a sheet layer active, then edit the space tag symbol (through resource browser). The text size should now show up correct (approx 14pt in your case) and you can adjust it to what you wish. Note: it can also be done on a 1:1 design layer, but a sheet layer is already scaled (/not scaled), and is therefore why it is much easier... Should definitely work...
  18. Hi again... Text sizes for space names and numbers... They are now symbols which can be easily manipulated through the resource browser. However, i believe they have to be edited in a 1:1 layer, or else you'll have issues with the text sizes being too small, and virtually invisible. Also, these spaces are stored in your library, and you can customize these (if you wish), the same way to suit your needs (and sizes), so you do not have to be continuously changing font sizes each time. Again though, I find it strange that that happens. Although, I tend to place schedules (as much as possible) directly on the sheet layer, unless it is too large to fit on the 1:1 scale. Therefore, a 10pt font would be a 10pt font (on the sheet layer). I have tried, creating spaces on one layer, and placing the schedule on another (design) layer, and again it seems to work for me. Try double-checking the criteria of the worksheet, and let us know what it comes up with... If not... You can either give me a detailed explanation of what happens when you try to place the schedule (worksheet) on another design layer, or you can send me the file and I'd be pleased to assist you (as much as i can). Hear you soon...
  19. Hi again... Glad we helped to sort your previous issue out... If I understand your issue this time, the 'ugly brick' is a texture, and can be changed/edited through the resource browser. Alternatively, you can browse for other textures that may help with your needs, in the VW applications folder. VW... /Libraries/Textures/... Browsing can be done straight from the resource browser, where you can click the little triangle at the top left of the Resource Browser palette, and choose 'Browse a Document'. At which point you can navigate to the textures files mentioned above. For the second issue with the sloped path, it all depends on how detailed you wish to go. There are various ways to achieve what you wish to... a.) You can go all out and use the Site Model tool, and create a site model of the site. If you have the contours of the site this is made easily. If you do not, then I am sure you have an idea of the slopes and therefore can 'fudge/fake' it. However this may be a bit time consuming for your needs. b.) If it is just a simple (one way) slope you want to get, a quick and possibly satisfying option is to extrude the slope shape in an elevation view. There may be other ways (dependent of your particular site), but these would be (probably) a.) the most complex and b.) simplest way to answer your question above. I hope this has been helpful... Awaiting your response...
  20. That's strange... Ensure that you are up to date with the latest service pack (SP3). Try a new doc with a space (on schedule) and generate the room finish schedule, and see if the same problem occurs. If it does not, then it is file related. If possible send me the file and I'll have a look at it. I just tried a quick one and it seems to work fine for me... Are they custom finishes? or are you just trying the default ones? await your reply....
  21. Hi... From what I know... When editing/creating a room finish library for the first time, they are saved in your user folder under the different categories (walls, ceilings, baseboard, floor). This is where the library is saved in the corresponding applications folder as well. ... /Libraries/Defaults/Space/Space-Room Finishes/... I do not believe the preference set works as it used to for room finishes. Or at least I have not found how it works now. These are text files however, separated by category. It should be pretty simple to edit the text file and copy and paste your previous finishes into each category's text file (at the User Folder Level).
  22. You'll have to adjust the parameters for the plug-in object for the sheet border... The question is, do you wish to keep the default VW settings? or do you not mind over writing them? My preference is to keep the original VW settings, as for starters, tampering with these will be futile when an update comes along as the default would be restored anyways. So... firstly... go to the following folder in Vectorworks (in applications)... VW2010/Plug-ins and copy the file 'Drawing Border-Universal', and paste it in the same location in your User Folder... By default (on Mac) it should be... [user]/Library/Application Support/Vectorworks/2010/Plug-ins Launch Vectorworks and got to... Tools > Scripts > Vectorworks Plug-in Editor Find the plug-in (Drawing Border-Universal) and select it and click 'Parameters' Adjust the settings you wish and specify your margins and click OK. It may NOT work as yet, but ensure that you check on a blank document first. If it has not worked, restart VW and again try on a blank document. *It is VERY IMPORTANT that you try on a blank document FIRST.* Your custom-default settings will now work on any file which has not previously used the sheet border tool. Let us know if it works... It should if you follow the above steps correctly...
  23. Feel free to send the files over and I can have a closer, more detailed look at it if you wish.
  24. Hi... Try going to 'Document Preferences' and unchecking 'Save Viewport Cache' (if it isn't unchecked already), and save the (10.4MB) file. See if that affects the file size... I had a file that had boosted up to 309.8MB... YES, 309.8MB... When I unchecked that option... and re-saved... I was left with a file that was 32MB!!! Dunno if that is the issue for you, but definitely worth a try! Let us know...
  25. ...Same as Pat... A new door object works fine...
