  1. For parking lots (assuming you're using the DTM), do the following: 1. Draw a site modifier in "fence" mode as the edge of your parking lot; 2. Place Stake objects around the edge of your fence in "Site Modifier Object" mode and set their elevation to the desired elevation; 3. Scatter more stake objects (same mode) at critical points internal to the parking lot (e.g. at catch basin edges); Then recalculate.
  2. Jim, please don't multi-post -- it's considered "bad form." Pick the forum most appropriate to your inquiry and post there. As you can see from your other post, I'm not able to reproduce your problem...
  3. Jim, I am unable to reproduce your problem. Clearly I am not seeing the ID label effect the door. Also, you can see from the last example that if I uncheck "keep ID horizontal", the ID rotates to the door rotation. What do you suppose we are doing differently?
  4. RB, I'm not a fonts guy (especially on Windows). Please call Tech Support for help with this problem.
  5. This is a topic that we see repeated on a regular basis. VectorWorks does things a little differently, using a 3D "texture" instead of a 3D "hatch". You can see a discussion on how to make monochrome "hatch-like" textures in this thread.
  6. There is a script in the VectorScript Resources area called "update all plug-in objects of selected type" that will let you update all you drawing borders at once. Just select a single drawing border, run the script, and all will update. Use this after you change your TB symbol.
  7. Jim, you might take a look at this thread to see a discussion of this topic
  8. I think this is a bug. Would you mind submitting this to bugsubmit@nemetschek.net?
  9. Kelly, this message occurs when you have a corrupt IP Resources file in your Plug-ins folder. This is usually a file of zero K. It can be fixed with a reinstall of VW.
  10. See this thread for the answer to your question.
  11. I can't say that "Custom Modification" will do everything that the Info Editor will do, but what it does is this: 1. Allow you to use the standard criteria editor interface to establish a 'filter' for objects you want to modify; and 2. For those objects, using the standard Object Properties dialog (e.g. the OIP), you can modify properties or attributes for the set of objects you defined in (1).
  12. Create a symbol you want to use for the graphic. Use GetObject() with ths symbol name to get a handle to the symdef. BeginSym and EndSym are when you are creating a symbol def in the script. Which you might want to do if you're changing the symbol around, but it isn't necessary to use the symbol display control.
  13. The handle is to a symbol def. Draw things into a (usually temporary) symbol definition and get a handle to it...

  15. Matt, under the View:Class Options: menu make sure you have "Show/Snap/Modify Others" selected.
  16. Petri, please send this to bugsubmit. Include the file and the method you used to export. Thanks!
  17. Bill, I'm not able to reproduce your problem. When I place a section line and change it to elevation mode, there is a small-but-manageable offset between the line endpoint and the control point that locates the text. Here's a little 3-line script (doesn't even need a declaration!) that you can cut and paste into a document script that will move the text control point so it can be easily picked. Select the Section Line before running it. SetRField(fsactlayer,'NNA_ArchSection','ControlPoint01x','24"'); SetRField(fsactlayer,'NNA_ArchSection','ControlPoint01y','24"'); resetobject(fsactlayer);
  18. Ion, if I were presented with this issue, I think I would look at classing to handle the different detail levels. We are interested in hearing from you about improvements we could add to our Toilet Stall object..
  19. DoughD, if what you mean is what Peter is illustrating above, then the "work-around" is to create (outside of a wall) a double-sided fireplace, then make it into a symbol, with the insertion point -not- at the PIO insertion point, but at the object center.
  20. Peter, I don't disagree with this, and this can be added in a straightforward way, I think. But this is centered in a (single) wall. The original post said something about "inserted into two walls". This made no sense to me, so I asked for a clarification, which never came.
  21. There is a statement in the online help: "Because VectorWorks Fundamentals users cannot create design layer viewports, and Design Series users cannot create layer links.." This statement is incorrect, and I have entered this as a documentation bug in our bug-tracking database. Layer links can indeed be created and used by Design Series users. Design Series users are indeed encouraged to use Design Layer Viewports (DLVPs) inasmuch as DLVPs offer a lot more functionality. To create the simpler object, just add the "Create Layer Links..." menu command to your workspace using the Workspace Editor.
  22. rcarch, could you send this in to bugsubmit@nemetschek.net? Sounds like a bug. If you have a file you can share that demonstrates this, that would be great!
  23. Jim, if you have a file illustrating this bug, please send it to bugsubmit@nemetschek.net. Thanks!
  24. dbk, I think the verbal description is accurate and fair, but I agree that the illustration can be misinterpreted. I'll bring this up with Marketing. Thank you for your input.
