WHEN DO SAVE AS, THE WINDOW 'SAVE VW DRAWING' IS SUPER LONG

Hi All,

On Vw Mac, Since a week now, the window that give you the possibility to save as a new file is incredibly long and is not possible to adjust it as always.
Can someone please help.

@fdb This is a known issue with Vectorworks 2021 and the new macOS Monterey - IF this is your setup, we will be releasing a new Service Pack at the end of November that will address this issue.

Thanks, yes I'm currently using VW 2021 with OSMonterey.

Is it my imagination or does the finder window keep getting wider the more it is used!! VW 2021, OSMonterey & M1 Mac

Surprise just updated 2022 to SP2 and now I can resize the finder in 2021!!! not sure why but will accept.

Yes, still ....

 

AFAIK it was no more problem in VW 2022 since SP0 or SP 1 release already.

There was an improvement in a VW 2021 SP too

(It looked like VW 2021 would now use the updated VW 2022 open dialog sizes)

But it was still not possible to horizontally adjust the VW 2021 Open Dialogs.

 

(Before VW 2022 release, my VW 2021 Open Dialogs felt like have grown over

time to about 12 times my screen width. After VW 2022 and resizing I was at

least able to use my VW 2021 Open Dialogs again without infinity scrolling)

Zoomer,  I spoke to soon on 2021 the "Save as" finder resizes and works for me but the "Open" finder is still extremely wide and doesn't resize.

That was a bit misleading.

 

The main VW Monterey Bug was that VW 2021 Open/Import/.... Finder Windows

a) where not resizable horizontally

b) somehow grew in width over time ....

 

It worked with new VW 2022 SP0 or 1.

Until this time, my VW 2021 Finder Dialog Windows already have grown to sizes of

multiple screen widths.

 

AFAIK VW 2022 also started with my previous, enormous Finder Open Windows.

But I was finally able to a) resize them horizontally again and b) they did no more

accidentally grow in width.

When going back to VW 2021 after a new SP, it looked like VW 2021 now uses the

resized VW 2022 Finder Dialogs now.

So they were usable again but still not resizable in VW 2021.

 

So for me it looks like all VW installations use the same common File for settings

like Finder Open Dialog Width/Resizing.

 

 

So until VW 2021 has a fix by an SP,

you would need to install VW 2022 to be able to resize your VW 2021 Open Windows 🙂

I am still running VW 2020 and also have this issue with ever growing ‘save as window’. Also running Monterey.

Any fixes?

That is such a BS answer for this problem., VW didnt follow the rules. made their own requester parameters and now its broke. 2K worth of software rendered stupid.

Beside that it is obvious that VW on Mac is not like VW on Windows, concerning legacy things,

yes,

VW was the only App that was effected by that Save Window bug in Monterey.

Similar 3D or CAD Apps, even with much older Versions, worked still fine after Monterey switch

for me.

yep silly, I'd imagine the fix is reasonable. As spotlight user in Entertainment industry, money for upgrades has been scarce since the covid thing. Help on this would be hugely appreciated. If we install a trial of 22 would that help?

Any perspective on solving this issue? And more, any possibility to solve for older VWX versions, such as 2020?

Unlikely to be fixed for older versions.  VW2020 is not compatible with OS12.

I am using VWX2020 with OSX12 and everything is up and running fine so far. The only strange behaviour is this ultrawide window.
Should I expect for more bugs?

It is quite possible that there are other incompatibilities, so I would be careful.
