Saved view generates no script?

None of my saved views are generating scripts, the dialog box shows nothing in the vectorscript pane at all?  How are we supposed to edit views by script?

Unless I am mistaken, the Edit Script button is for you to add a script to the Saved View, so that the Saved View will run an additional script as well. I tried it a couple of months ago and it works well.

I see. I was hoping that I could copy/past some view settings for each one.

The ability to edit the script for Saved Views went away a long time ago. Maybe VW12?

 

Saved Views do have the ability to have user added code.

 

Go to the Organization Dialog Box, Save Views pane.  Select the View you want and click Edit. The click Edit Script in the dialog box and paste in what you want.

thanks @Pat Stanford do you know of any way to batch edit the settings of views?  I wanted to change all of my render settings from OpenGL to a renderstyle, thought I could just copy/paste the render settings.  I ended up having to do it manually...big pain.

Unfortunately I do not know a way to batch edit Saved Views. I don't think you can access them (other than to load and save them) with Vectorscript.

 

You might be able to script calling the saved view, deleting it, changing the render mode, and then saving it again, but I don't know how to get a list of the names of the existing saved views to do this.

This is a swing and a miss for the VW user interface.  You can change all sorts of things in the edit view dialog box, but there is no option to change rendering mode?
