Mac Dilemma Performance Issues

GaryV

Question

I am a consultant for a design firm trying to figure out what is the issue with a MacPro 2013 8 core, 2TB SSD, D700, 64GB Ram. The redraws on the screen a labored. When zooming he gets a second delay while the redraw updates. Yet on his iMac 2018, 16GB, 500GB SSD at home it is smooth on the same drawing. What could cause this?

I have the same.

I think it because of the new VW 2020 feature of rendering objects far away

with lower resolution and unloading occluded elements.

So for me it feels slower than before because I always notice the reloading

and flickering on my aged D700s.

(I think I even notice that on Windows with a RTX 2070 ?)

Haven't tried so far but it could be better when changing VW OpenGL settings

from "best performance" back to performance and compatibility,

which should deactivate all the VW 2020 features and revert back to VW 2019

graphic.

I think Zoomer's answer is great. One thing worth ruling out are your workspace files. As within the last year I've encountered three to five users who've experienced 'beach balling' delays that were due to corrupt workspace files. (Different symptom I know, but I'm curious to see if this behaviour is also related).

If you've customised your Workspace but kept the original name, you'll need to manually move them out of your Vectorworks User Folder (with Vectorworks closed) before testing with the default workspaces.
