Need to add notes to symbols and other objects.

Are tags a good way to add notes to symbols? How about adding notes to other objects that aren't symbols?

Tags seem to work alright for adding notes to symbols. How might I add a note to a non-resource manager object?

I want to add notes to non-resource manager objects, like an extrusion. Click on the object, look in the OIP, see a note I added with information about the object.

That works, but it's limited. Only the record title shows in the OIP. I would need to put all the notes in the title, unless I'm not understanding how to do this.

I think Tags are only visible in the OIP. I think they are for organizing library content rather than presenting information about objects in a file itself. I couldn't find a way to show the tags anywhere other than the Resource Manager (eg. I don't think you can see them in the OIP when an object is selected).

 

If you select a Record name in the OIP it will show you all of the fields associated with the object its assigned to. I've attached a screen shot. My record format is called "Object Info" and has three note fields you can type into. Sometimes you need to drag the little dot to reveal them the first time.

Got it. Thanks Rob, Pat, and Kevin. This will help me. I think I will "wish list" for the ability to add notes to objects in the OIP.
