Reshape tool no longer works

Hello-

I an on VW2 2017 Spotlight.
 

I can no longer make the 'Reshape" tool work. I am trying to use it for resizing multi-cables. I thought maybe there was an issue with the drawing so I restarted and drew a cable to try to resize it. Same problem. So I drew a polygon and tried it on that and still no go. Thoughts?

What specifically is happening when you say it isn't working? You aren't able to activate the tool at all? It gives you an error message? Do you not see any selection handles when the tool is active and you have a reshapable object selected?

I can select it and I get handles but then I can not drag them anywhere.

What modes are active for your reshape tool, in the top left mode bar?

Thanks Jim! I did not know about the different modes and tried selecting one and found the right one.

It's that parallel move mode, it gets me once and a while

Same. If there are no edges that are movable by that mode, no handles appear. So then I think I'm still in the Selection tool so I double click the Polyline. Which actually switches me to the Selection Tool. Then I double click the polyline yet again. Oi.
