bjoerka
in vw2014 it was possible to convert an imported pdf page that contains vectors to editable objects (lines, polys...) with the "convert to group" command. when i try the same in vw2015 i only get one rectangle. all other informations are lost. what is the reason for that? or do i miss something? Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 22, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 22, 2014 With the PDF selected, make sure that snapping for it is enabled in the Object Info Palette before ungrouping/converting it. Otherwise you'll just get the border and the background image I believe. Quote Link to comment
bjoerka
Correct Jim. So the workaround changed a bit .-) Convert to group only generates one rectangled, the boundaries i guess. Ungrouping generates a bitmap, one rectangle (boundary) and a group with all content. After testing i found out that also in VW2014 ungrouping did what i have done always with "convert to group" Thank you! Quote Link to comment
petensen
This doesn't work for me. I just get a rectangle, even with 'Snap to Geometry' on. VW15 SP1 Fundamentals, Architect Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
petensen, it only works if the PDF has been created from a program that produces vector data. If you have turned on 'Snap to Geometry' on the OIP and then can't snap to anything then the PDF doesn't contain any vector data. The bitmap is all that it will contain. Quote Link to comment

The experience changes dramatically depending on how the PDF was created. Unfortunately, this is more of a useful trick than a fully fleshed out feature, it mainly isn't official because of its intermittent usefulness. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
I think it is a great feature. Quote Link to comment
