I don't think it looks weird at all. It's exactly what the sun would do, if the building were sliced like that... Additionally, how can you call that "leaking". You (yes you) sliced the building open...

Now, as to an easy and practical solution: try adjusting the time of day (or angle of sun) slightly to remove those areas of light you don't want to show...

Peter, this is a problem because this is not how light will behave when the building is built. I don't want to present the building how it would look if we actually cut through it. I want to show how the light will work when the building is built. Cutting through it is simply a drafting technique to see inside.

well, i finally tried it...thanks, christiaan, for the impulse.

strangely, the "cast shadows..." option seems to be available for sht layer section viewports, and not for design layer ones. that distinction does not make sense to me.

anyway, i did a sht layer section and the shadows cast properly as christiaan had hoped. however, i can't see a way to define the viewing angle in the sht layer viewport. in the design layer you can rotate or use a camera. in the sht layer i'm stuck with the default, which is not a good choice. there must be a way to change this. does anybody know?
