Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted September 30, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 30, 2015 I have added a wish to control exposure without creating a RW camera, which is what I think I'm seeing here. For now exposure is only available by using a RW Camera object and rendering with Camera Effects on in the render settings. Quote Link to comment
bcd
Dave What are the correct settings to mimic the light from a single candle in this scene, with or without a camera? Am I alone in finding the values to be off by a factor of somewhere between 1500% and 4000%? Quote Link to comment
zoomer
I still do not understand the problem of the Candle. At the beginning of the Thread I thought a Candle would be much too bright in VW. The Images show that it works well in my eyes. A Candle has very low light to light such a large room. If you would take a real Photo with open Aperture and ISO 64000 and 1/10 s it would still be a dark picture. VW's standard Exposure looks like kind of a daylight exposure that works well with Day Light. If you have only low artificial lights you can crank up general Exposure and/or Emitter Brightness. That what you have done in your pictures. You can do similar in 2016 with camera Exposure. Means that you can leave your Light Sources realistic and brighten the Image until it looks good by camera values like you would do for a real photo. Quote Link to comment
bcd
The 'room' is 3' x 5' x 2' high. You could perform surgery in a room this small with a standard candle (if you didn't wear hairspray) Quote Link to comment
zoomer
The room with the candle ? Do you have any other lights on for the small cage at the top ? Like Ambient or sunlight ? Quote Link to comment
bcd
No, It's out of the box FWRW, no other lights. The cage is simply an extrude with Backlit reflectivity and Cast Shadows off to represent the flame. I guess I'll just file it as a Bug and see if the issue generates traction there.
