Squirt
Hello! So... I'm brand new to vectorworks, and trying to wrap my head around it. First question: if I have a pdf copy of the new theater "blueprint" (stage, electrics, etc...), is there a way to import that pdf into vectorworks spotlight (maybe as a layer?) so I can then add lights/set/whatever to make my designs? I am trying to be as specific as possible, please let me know if I can help clarify anything. Thank you in advance for your help! Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted July 31, 2011 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 31, 2011 Hi Squirt Do the following: File>Import>Import PDF. Choose your PDF and import it. Hopefully, it will have some kind of scale reference, like a scale bar. Choose Modify>Scale Objects. Click the second button down and click on the dimension button on the right. Click on two points either end of something you know the size of (like the scale bar). The first field on the dialog will show the actual dimension. In the field below it, type the size it should be. Click OK. The PDF is now correctly sized for your drawing and you can start designing over the top. Hope that helps you get started. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
PDF import is a feature of Architect, Landmark, Spotlight and Designer. It doesn't exist in Fundamentals. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Seems unlikely, but does drag 'n drop add a pdf in Fundamentals? -B Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Surprisingly, I was able to do it while in the Fundamentals workspace. Not sure if that means it would work if I had only the Fundamentals workspace.... mk Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
When you have an Industry Series version PDF Import will work because that option is enabled. If you are using Fundamentals that option is not enabled. Quote Link to comment
mdaszenies
Note that PDF pages are high-level objects. That means that they can be ungrouped, and you can use parts of them for your design and delete other you don't need. Quote Link to comment
