Justin King
I wanted to know what techniques everyone uses to portray booms in 2d, while having the lights show up in 3d. Is it posible to seperate the 2d and 3d symbols. Thankyou for your help Quote Link to comment
MrTemplate
Hello Justin; these days when i want to portray a boom in both 2d and 3d i construct a hybrid symbol that reflects both of those views to provide graphic information, but i attach no record to the symbol so that it can't be included in any counts or any data exports. i have not, however, attempted to use these symbols to project any light or gobos. Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted February 6, 2006 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 6, 2006 I basically do the same thing. I'll draft the plot with the boom layed out so I can see the information on the plot. Place this boom in class A. Create a second boom drawn correctly in 3D and place it in Class B. I tune off Class A or B depending on what I want to see. Sometimes I'll insert just a 3D symbol, other times I'll create a special instrument symbol or position so I know not to count these extra instruments. Quote Link to comment
C. Andrew Dunning
FWIW... When creating booms and other, occasionally, "different-to-explain" positions, I use a combination of 2D-Only (including a 3D locus) and hybrid symbols. The 2D-only symbols contain data and the hybrids contain none. A quick "demo" is @ http://www.landrudesign.com/public/FresnelDemo.JPG. The "ghost" fresnel is the hybrid symbol and the one w. the text is the 2D. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Klinzey Does the Class A/Class B technique screw up the paperwork? ie, does it double the number of units on a boom in the Channel Hookup or Instrument Schedule? michaelk Quote Link to comment
