Default Truss

Thanks, I was sure it was something simple. Those are the easiest to miss.

Is there a way to change the default parameters for truss creation? Most of the shows I design utilize 20.5" box truss. Each time I draw a truss, I've got to go and edit it to these dimensions. No difficult, but it would sure be easier to create it in this size originally.

by just clicking on the tool, you will open up some options for it. Just under the data entry bar, there should be three options for the truss. The small icon that looks like a buletted list will open up the insertion options for the tool. Setting these parameters will make the truss default to those parameters each time you use them.

A bit late, but you can set up your truss size via the requester as Grant describes, then "Save as Stationary" and overwrite "Default.sta" in your VW folder. That way every new drawing will be set for your favorite truss. BTW, this also works with most other tools - very handy.

I never save over the default.

I have a template that has my all my tool defaults set up, as well as symbols, and forms, and blah blah blah ...

I backed my default up, but I really like VW to be ready as soon as I fire it up.

If you want to change the defaults for all new documets without using the stationalry file, you need to use the plug-in editor.

Organize\Scripts\VectorScript Plug-In Editor...

Select the tool you want to change and hit the Parameters button. ecect the parameter you want to change the default and click edit. Change the default value and click OK.

This will change the default value for the object when it is placed for the first time in a document. The default values for existing documents will not change.
