align bottom of object to top of another

Very useful for placing objects upon a floor or ledge, or getting bottom oriented objects (castors on decks) to flush up.

I agree. The align plug-in from Vectorbits goes part of the way to improving what is an important tool in VW, but it doesn't give these options either. Also, in VW it is impossible to set up direct keyboard shortcuts for the different align options. This existed in early versions, and I'd like to see it reinstated.

This post is sixteen years old.  Is there a script or workaround to do align bottom of one object to top of another?

Did I hear my name? It is something that Reshaper can do. In Front view, with one of the BOTTOM anchor points selected, and the Next Click mode selected, the user can click on the top of any 3D object in the drawing and click the OK button. That will move the selected object to sit atop the clicked-on object.

 

As far as an existing script goes, I don't know of any, but it wouldn't be too difficult to write. Get the 3D-BBox of both objects, calculate the ∆Z between the bottom of one object and the top of the other, then move the one object up or down by that amount.
