This seems like a monumental shift / leap forward.

@KPrice  Apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere, I couldn't see it in announcements.

I would be very interested to hear from Nemetschek Vectorwork's on this agreement, and what kind of developments might be looked at over time?

Interesting change.

How many years didn't Nemetschek offer any interoperability - between their own products ?

Can I collaborate with my Archicad partners or Allplan soon ?

Architosh writes about desktop Apps too but for me it sounds like 95% cloud based though.

Therefore we have Speckle already ?

I get why Nemetschek wants to get interoperability with Revit.

But Autodesk ? They already own near the whole market (?)

Perhaps to avoid antitrust lawsuits by building a history of trying to play nice?  To finally respond in an actionable way to the open letters calling for Revit to improve.  To squash some of the emerging startups that threaten to turn things on their head by forcing them to open up their API if they want to play with the big dogs?  It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I don’t expect anything significant.

The infrastructure software companies kinda get a pass on the whole monopoly thing due to the “national security” excuse.  I don’t think architectural software making McBuilding can use the same.

Interesting thoughts.

The good thing for me is just that lately there came some movement in the

non existing Speckle Connector.

Means that so far it was known that a "community" tries to build a Connector

but had problems and we never saw any early versions. Now there seems to be

a real chance that Speckle stuff will maybe work on it. Maybe even with the

help of VW stuff.

Users of Revit, Rhino, Sketchup, Blender, Navisworks, PowerBI, QGIS, that other GIS, ....

and even Archicad users are already heavily collaborating between each other

with Speckle.

But my only serious Software supported by Speckle ins Blender.

(Beside that I start looking at QGIS or Unreal Engine)

So the only thing I can do to test Speckle is uploading an IFC to stream it to Blender ....

(Which doesn't need Speckle as you want BlenderBIM AddOn anyway)

I need and want finally Speckle Connectors for my VW and my Bricscad.
