BartHays
OK, first questions, Does Vectorworks guarantee that all works created by the (Stable Diffusion) AI visualizer are copyright protected and can be used for professional work without risk? rDesign
From the AI Visualizer FAQ, emphasis added: Quote Anything else I need to know? This is an image generator only; it cannot generate modelled objects, make changes to a Vectorworks model, or change render settings. Unlike other images and drawings that you create in Vectorworks, AI-generated images cannot be copyrighted. Vectorworks collects user data associated with text prompts and images, archives the data for seven days, and then deletes it. 4 Quote Link to comment

FWIW, I think this is a terrible addition to VW as a professional design tool. While AI can be fun for inspiration, it is not usable for professional work. It's like VW gave us their password for Adobe Stock images. Sure you can download the images but you cant claim any rights to use them in any of your professional projects. 2 Quote Link to comment

So why integrate a tool into my professional design software that I can't claim copyright to or guarantee is copyright-free? 3 Quote Link to comment
rDesign
For reference to the current unresolved legal issues involving images created using AI, here is a link to a PDF from the US Copyright Office Copyright Registration Guidance: Works Containing Material Generated By AI 2 Quote Link to comment
Popular Post echerney
Personally, I think this is a bad move. What I like about Vectorworks is that everything I make is rooted in reality. The objects are the same as their real-world counterparts. Using AI to boost "creativity" just doesn't make sense to me. You're going to let the computer make a fake image for you and then try to re-create it? Calling it a "creativity" scaler is just an insult to designers. I've already had clients push AI generated work into design meetings and had to tell them what they want is not possible. 5 1 Quote Link to comment

Because people who can't design will buy the software and think it will make them an architect? Designers across many industries make mood boards made of stock images, magazine clippings, screen shots, and such as part of their process don't seem to see the use of AI any different. I doubt being caught in a lawsuit is likely nor will it stop the behavior. Seems to be the industry trend. Hype reminiscent of the .COM era with investments in dubious companies flying around everywhere. 1 Quote Link to comment
Helm
Well I asked it to make it look like an old English village. Just tell you client to tell you what style they like and there you go. 2 Quote Link to comment
