  1. HI Kevin These ideas get people talking about non standard stuff. That is good for the Forum. For the most part, VW's designs have a similar feel. I am sure your images inspired a new user or two to look into high end rendering.
  2. As this would be very subjective, it could be difficult to implement on the Forum. The VW store is quite clear, etc. and still a long way off. But, just posting as you did and asking for critique may simply be the best solution.
  3. Did you Render this in Vectorworks or CINEMA 4D. Either way you have done a great job. The only area I see that could use some attention is the low level lighting and by low level I mean "under the table". It seems the light sources have not reached that area to produce shadows from the legs, etc. As that is the focal point, the eye is drawn.. But, the detail of your work is incredible, truly amazed.
  4. I have a MacBook Pro M3 chip with Sonoma. Running VW 2024. We are not fully compatible. There are memory handling issues. Not the first time I have seen this and probably to be expected. It could be a combination of Unified memory and how VW's handles it, or just Vectorworks.....or just Sonoma. To be determined. There may not be enough users running this combination yet for VW's to get enough info
  5. This model is very simple. All you need to do is find some tutorials on Add and Clip Surface that are found under the Modify menu. Then it is just extrude and rotate out the small windows Just google Add surface Vectorworks and I am sure you will come up with the answers you are looking for.
  6. Hi, I am not an architect, but until someone else with more architectural knowledge chimes in, is this something like what you want.
  7. HI Guys, I have been modelling in this area recently. There is a difference between modelling pillows and cushions. Although they are right up Subdivisions alley, NURBS have a lot of control in this area. The sofa below has both, cushions and pillows. If you notice the cushsions have a subdivision top surface, rounded corners and flat bottom. The pillows are the type sound in any home. All done with NURBS. The pillows can have a different radius on all sides, top and bottom, curves and isoparms could be extracted to decorate them if required. The sofa consists of 16 bands interwoven between the spokes. Rendered/Animated in Vectorworks for a change. Does a pretty good job.
  8. There are many tutorials from either Vectorworks or individuals who have a third party interest. Just Google "Add Solids Vectorworks" or "Cut tool Vectorworks" and there will be many to choose from, normally all good. But, there is no better way than just experimentation. Use the tools, push the buttons and see what they do. Good Luck.
  9. Compose works for me. Make sure the two ends are really touching in all dimensions. Also, Add surface works for polyline, although it gives you a fill pattern, but still works the same......I think.
  10. Thank you for the offer, but the Option right click is all I need. I don't even know what a stream deck is or for that matter a Macro. Having fun, but technology is passing me by.
  11. Does anyone know of a way to bring up Duplicate Along Path in the Smart Options Display?
  12. It did have to do with the textures, but not the way you would think. There were some textures in the file that I was not aware of, but they were not used and did not add up to 116. All tolled, the should have added up to 32 MB. I removed them and the file with the shown texture reduced to 668 KB. I have been using VW 2024 for a three weeks now and it has some very real memory handling issues, but not insurmountable.
  13. Hi Kevin Hope you are enjoying fine weather, balmy minus 3 here this morning. When I scale an object up the texture does not scale with it. I guess that is the question I was asking. I must admit, I find texture mapping in VW......challenging perhaps is a good word. I don't need to do this, but interested in doing it. Something else I don't understand is why the object below is 116 MB in size.
  14. Can an object like a tin can that has a texture be scaled up with its texture in place?
  15. There are a number of issues with 2024 and M3 chip. But, just a teething process, usually fixed by a restart of the program But, today alone. Cut tool stopped working in plan views Rotate tool would rotate, but not display the Rotate Icon, Arrow tool There are memory issues when rendering with HDRI. Little teapot stops, GI stops displaying, but image appears in the usual time Scaling a texture while in rendered mode = crash Camera has mind of its own Usual stuff over the years
  16. Have you tried importing in an older version of VW's, if you still have one. Then save and open in current version.
  17. Hi Christiano, There are a set of tools that have a logical progression, but unfortunately you are thrust into learning all of them at once. It would be better if you would take a few minutes and just watch the online tutorials on "Add, Subtract Solids", the "Cut Tool" and Fillet/Chamfer from the 3D tool palette. All of your problems would go away and life would be wonderful. I have created a short video showing what you asked and also the new "Offset Edge" tool if you have 2024. Not required, add solids will serve as well.
  18. This project reminds me of "Zee Old Days". Another way if you have not already finalized your plans, is create a cube , then "convert to mesh". Then you can simply marquee individual or multiple points with the arrow cursor and move them manually or with the move command. They will also rotate, but not scale. I still use Multiple Extrude and this method occasionally.
  19. You can use the Compose command under Modify to turn lines into polygons. Add Surface also under the Modify menu will combine your polygons. Once you extrude, use the cut tool or subtract solids to create a ramp Feel free to ask more questions
  20. When I select this link, it says unavailable. I may be because it is in the text string. I would be happy to look at this if you want to repost.
  21. Shell has conditions. A surface may simply not shell at all or only to what it can. One way around this is to shell in one direction, duplicate and shell the other and add solids. Loft surface, which I find odd, should be "loft curves to create surface" does not usually have conditions. I don't think your curves are NURBS curves. Not that you have put them down incorrectly, just something has gone wrong. One way to check. Select your curve, go to 3D Power Pack and select "Rebuild NURBS". 1- if no dialogue box comes up, then they are not NURBS curves 2-If the dialogue box comes up, then rebuild the curves (default) and see what happens.
  22. Can you post this file? There has to be a simple reason. Post in whatever version you are using.
  23. Yes. Same as if they are not connected. When you do this, check the join points. If they are two sharp, they may come to a sharp point. Use the Reshape tool to smooth the vertex.
