  1. Thanks Dave. Are they also missing from the DVD installer?
  2. Presumably as long as the error doesn't include connection problems?
  3. Can you be a bit more specific Erich? I've taken projects through from design to contruction using the model approach, but there are different levels of what could be considered BIM.
  4. Don't you mean less than 3% have reported a problem? There may well be many more having problems but they simply haven't reported it. It could be a substantial number. Often forums like these are an indication of wider problems, and I don't recall there being this many problems with a VW installer being reported on the forum.
  5. Today I selected all the classes in a file via the Nav Palette and switched them all on, at which point I was presented with a dialogue window, which said: This is a great development NNA. Look forward to being interupted more often with these kinds of suggestions!
  6. Just reporting back so say that we've been using Viewport class editing with great success.
  7. Life would be a lot simpler if we could download standalone updaters.
  8. I'd love to see this too. Mac OS X has its own built-in print preview, but it requires waiting for a PDF to be rendered to the screen, so an instant preview built into VW along the lines of the one used in Microsoft Office 2004 (for Mac at least) would be great, and would probably help avoid a lot of printing mistakes.
  9. That would be my preference. At the moment, if we need this, we simply crop the PDF in Preview.app (Apple's own PDF reader). Also, when printing to PDF with Batch Print I'd like the option of naming the PDFs by using the relative names of Sheets or Saved Views.
  10. This link is broken: http://download2.nemetschek.net/www_misc/Image_Environment_Bkgrnds.mcd
  11. And no one in this thread has suggested this shouldn't be the case. It's a lot easier to debate these things without straw man arguments.
  12. Took a while to perfect the pencil too. I can't figure out why people still make telephones that fall off their hook though.
  13. I may be misunderstanding you Bruce but to save the size and position of your main window, set it up then 'save as template' and overwrite the file called "Default.sta" in Vectorworks/Templates/
  14. The Mac Pro is always going to outlast the iMac; it's far more expandble and the display is independent. Both machines would be more than enough for your purposes (maxing out the memory in the iMac would be advised), but if you think future use might include 3D work, and it's within your budget, I'd think seriously about Mac Pro, with a X1900 XT graphics card (frankly I think it's the best machine they've ever produced). It's doubtful but I think there's a possibility of new displays on the 25th too, so keep that in mind, but don't quote me on it.
  15. I think, ethically, and practically, your first concern (in this instance) should be your own customers, but I can see how you could get yourselves into a pickle and understand perfectly why you'd want to avoid it. However, you don't have to wait for them to ask. If I were you I would simply ask them if their products are compatible, on the basis that you will be advising your customers. Perfectly reasonable and ethical I would have thought. P.S. hope you can take on board our concerns about the 32 character limit, it's our most pressing concern currently
  16. No, but I'd like to learn how to. I haven't done programming of any kind (cept html?) but VW would be as gooder place to start as any.
  17. It takes me about 2.5 seconds to click on a button and zip a Vectorworks file before sending it via the internet. I really can't see how that can be described as a nightmare. I think time and resources would be better spent on other aspects of Vectorworks than smaller files sizes.
  18. Cool, that's great news. (Just have to do a reinstall.)
  19. Presumably now that we have Unicode support in v12.5 we also have superscript/subscript support?
  20. It'd be useful, when creating a Viewport, to have the option (maybe just beside "Project 2d Objects") to centre it on the sheet.
  21. I'd like to be able to collect Class Mapping files in a folder in the user settings folder and then have a pulldown menu in the Class Mapping dialogue box that allows me to choose any of these files.
  22. Except that it's not a matter of preference. We do, in fact, use Renderworks, but it is simply not an option on our larger projects. I think you're miscalculating when you describe Artlantis as a competitor. Artlantis allows us to produce work that we could not produce with Renderworks. We're not expecting you to promote a 3rd party product, let alone to go overboard. All we're expecting is reasonable interoperability and openness (something NNA does actually have a few clues about). Surely it's reasonable, for instance, to expect that if I can make class names longer than 32 characters I should be able to export those class names? http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB37&Number=60226 With regard to notification about broken export plugins I can understand how you come to your point of view but this is not how all companies operate. There are plenty of software companies out there that happily do what is being asked in this thread. I'm simply suggesting that there appears to be a culture at NNA, with regard to perceived competitors, that prevents it from being such a company, and I think that's a pity, especially when NNA gets it in so many other ways.
  23. UK version? Will that be different to the download?
