  1. If you have already patched Vectorworks 2014 to SP3 and are still having those problems, make sure to contact tech support at tech@vectorworks.net and they can get you sorted.
  2. Confirmed here too. In Hidden Line, i can gray classes in the viewports OIP and they gray the hidden line components in the grayed classes. If I attempt to gray layers, then in Hidden Line the objects simply disappear, rather than graying as expected. Enabling "Project Screen Objects" on the viewport allows the objects to appear, but as you say, they are hollow wireframe, so you can see the geometry behind them rather than the expected HL appearance. I'll test this a bit more to make sure I'm not missing something, but it looks like an issue that I'll need to submit.
  3. Doesn't look like it is currently possible. Even when using "Field Value" as the first criteria, Rotation is not one of the available options. I tried pulling a sample Door object's rotation value via a worksheet as well, I simply tried =('Door'.'Rotation') and a few variants of that, but I wasn't able to find it. Will submit this as an enhancement request.
  4. I am positive it wont happen before September. Changes like that are massive and not something you can bolt on to an existing software package. Many of the base components are having to be rewritten from scratch. I personally feel that 64bit and multithreading are more of a priority than some of the other projects going on (as you do), but unfortunately it isn't something I have direct control over.
  5. It has been submitted, but unfortunately no, no results yet.
  6. That wont be graphics driver related most likely then. Also, when I open the file I don't get the issues you are seeing. Email tech@vectorworks.net (attn Jim) with the following and we can go from there: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/627/DirectX+Diagnostics+and+System+Profiler http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1080/Creating+a+List+of+Installed+Programs
  7. Definitely these. I'll write it up now.
  8. Benson, confirmed. I didn't mean to imply that it was working properly in 2014, I genuinely didn't know it was a capability before. We have been avoiding the use of meshes in TS recently because of other unrelated issues, but I got so into the habit of it I forgot that they were capable in this regard, my fault.
  9. Where else do you think it would be useful? Off the top of my head: Import/Export STL (Already put in a request to allow Importing STLs) Import 3DS (Export allows quality control during export already) Send to C4D Export to C4D Export to Rhino 3DM Export to Parasolid X_T (However I think this format is mainly about EXACT geometry, so a quality setting may be inappropriate.)
  10. An SSD should not affect anything other than the load/save times for the file. It should still have a driver from this year, I'm surprised that registers as you having the latest driver. Sometimes you need a customized one from the manufacturer. However, to be sure, please send me a file where you are getting the massive slowdowns and I will confirm its not just something in the file/application itself.
  11. It is indeed, however the control is nowhere near fine enough in my opinion, and as discussed in the other thread, it is NOT obvious that this setting affects this conversion. I think the quality control for Mesh objects (in addition to allowing far more polygons to be created than currently even 3D Conversion Res set to Very High permits) should pop up during conversion.
  12. I don't work with meshes often, but I always recall having to double-click the mesh object and then I get access to the contained 3D polygons inside. NURBS surfaces edit in the manner you describe above, but I don't get this issue when editing a mesh, as unless I've double-clicked it and am inside it, I get no control handles at all. (However semi related, this did remind me of a request for polygon count control when converting objects to meshes, which I have submitted. Currently even converting a simple sphere gives you a geodesic dome effect. The amount of 3D polygons generated should be user-controllable.)
  13. Same here, the extracted geometry and exported geometry to other 3D formats all seems fine and smooth, but the originals are definitely faceted regardless of render/quality settings being maxed across the board. Submitting this as an issue now.
  14. If the objects are symbols, they will be linked together and can all be modified at the same time. This details this process a bit more: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/923/Symbol+Names If not, they are all individual instances of that object.
  15. Have a look at these as well: Batch Convert: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/784/Batch+Conversion+of+older+Vectorworks+files Updating Textures: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/832/Migration+Tips+-+Vectorworks+2011+-+Textures
  16. You can double click the sweep in this version of the file to see how it was made:
  17. That card should be more than adequate, however, what graphics driver do you currently have installed? Anything from 2012 or before will cause similar problems in OpenGL in Vectorworks: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/476/Updating+Graphics+Drivers This looks like the latest for that card: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/74061/en-us
  18. You appear to have a comprehensive list of every setting I am aware of to change smoothness in Vectorworks. I agree that that is entirely too many and "Quality Settings" in general should be at the very least grouped together in one place, if not reduced to fewer options altogether. If you render that viewport in Hidden Line or Final Quality RW, does the same faceting appear? Could you post a sample file (with just one of those faceted NURBS surfaces in it) so that I can have a closer look?
  19. Some objects will offer a preview, but other objects, such as hybrid symbols (I think) will just show their bounding area. Unfortunately i know of no way of forcing objects to show details in 2D rather than their bounding area during rotation.
  20. Not seeing that on my Macs here, do the buttons not show at all or are they disappearing at the moment you select a template?
  21. It depends on the object, if it has reshape handles floating around it, you can normally scale it with the Selection tool. (as long as its in the first or second mode) Symbols have a scaling factor that can be entered manually in the Object Info palette, or they can be rescaled via the reshape handles in most cases. Other objects, or entire documents full of objects, can be rescaled manually using this: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/449/Scale+by+Distance
  22. I do not know of a way to convert it without using its original software, however MicroSurvey recommends this to get them to DWG, which you could then import into Vectorworks: http://www.microsurvey.com/helpdesk/index-old.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=265
  23. ^ Gah! Much easier. I always forget the "real" use of Shell Solid.
