  1. Woops, there it is, knew I was missing something. That should indeed be an option, submitting request now.
  2. Excellent! Complaining is the only way things get better.
  3. That is not the intended behavior, it seems to be allowing separate settings for PDF but in Print its defaulting back to the originals once you select another item. Submitting as an issue now.
  4. I think I may be missing something, in Tools > Options > Line Thickness, you can set Vectorworks to use mm instead of points, so then no translation of line widths is required. Is this not what you were looking to do? Or is there another location line weights are showing their point thickness even when you set the thicknesses to mm?
  5. Let me know if the same error occurs in another browser or if its the exact same message, please.
  6. Tried testing connections both internally and externally with Firefox, Chrome, Safari and IE, I am able to access the help directly. Does the same occur for you on an alternate browser? http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/715/Alternate+Browsers
  7. Correction: I was able to replicate this here, it seems placing new plant areas with the tool directly will reset the rounding precision for the whole document, as will editing the Landscape Area manually after placement. Submitting as an issue now.
  8. Does that happen when you go here manually? http://app-help.nemetschek.net/2015/NNA/eng/VW2015_Guide/Welcome/Welcome.htm Or are you using 2014?
  9. OH! If you meant OpenGL altogether, not just the shading in openGL, then bcd's answer is correct. If after you reset the default 3D render mode it doesnt seem to take, sometimes you will need to go to View > Rendering > Wireframe to reset it. It should then keep your newly set defaults when you change views.
  10. I am not able to replicate this here. In a new blank file, if you go into Units and set the Area units to Sq Ft, precision of 1 (making sure to click OK and not Cancel or Esc to close the window), then draw out first a rectangle, does that rectangle show its area in sq ft rounded to 1 or .001? If you then convert that rectangle into a Landscape Area, does it show its area in 1 or .001?
  11. Under the Railings tab, the "Both Sides" checkbox was enabled and Guardrails were turned on, but seemed set up high as if they were handrails. Unchecking Both and then turning off guardrails let me remove the rail.
  12. Some tools do this but there is an overwhelming majority that does not. Should these defaults normally be document-specific, global (any document you open on that machine,) or determined by a template? Or would a user benefit from being able to determine which of the above options occurred for each individual tool?
  13. Currently the only way is to import the images then manually remove the unwanted colors/fills in Photoshop, there is no automated way of doing it yet nor a way to export alpha channels from Vectorworks. If you make the background fill a dramatically different color from the rest of your file within Vectorworks, the color is more easily subtracted in Photoshop normally, but that has to be done after export.
  14. The shadows can be disabled directly, the sort of false-shading effect will go away if you add lights to the model of pretty much any kind. If that isn't what you mean, show me a before and after of what you're looking for in SketchUp and I can see if it has an equivalent in Vectorworks.
  15. No problem. It looks like it is happening to some tile fills but not all. To clarify the original question for anyone else reading: No this is not intentional, it should maintain the attribute mapping made before any clip or split operation after the operation completes.
  16. Looks like the setting (Pre-selection highlighting) is all or nothing, but I see why you would want pre-selection highlighting only on selectable objects. Moving this to Wishlist and submitting request now.
  17. Confirmed here, submitting as an issue now.
  18. Sort of, this explains the difference: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1086/Working+with+Screen+and+Layer+Planes
  19. Theyre updating the help content right now, its nothing on your end. Apparently this will happen when they bulk-update the help content and can last a few hours, I see the same errors here. We are working to get the update system to be less disruptive. The local help can be manually accessed at: Vectorworks2015\VWHelp\HTML5\index.htm if you open that file with a web browser.
  20. Yes, sort of. Since 3D polys can exist outside of one plane, but 2D polys can't, they will just "flatten" when converted if they weren't already flat. To convert them, select the 3D polys, use Modify > Convert > Convert to Polygons (or Convert Copy to Polygons) This will give you a group. Ungroup it, then use Modify > Compose to combine any non-connected polylines/lines into polygons.
  21. Yes. Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences > Interactive > Interactive Appearance Settings. The two color settings for General - Background - Perspective, are the ones you are looking for.
  22. I will say that the notification bar is not very noticeable. I like that it doesn't get in the way, but I think it could do more to catch the eye, especially since a lot of UI quirks that Vectorworks has are listed there, but missed by many new users where aren't aware of it. I recently submitted a request for a history for this alert area that would let users click on it to see recent error/warning notifications, what tool triggered them and if they click for more details they be taken to more info about the tool or command they just tried to use.
  23. This issue should now be corrected in the latest version of the Remote app for the following devices: iPhone 5S iPad Air iPad Mini (2nd generation) Which you can find here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nemetschek-vectorworks-remote/id910133995?mt=8 I had not heard reports of the issue on the iPhone 6 or 6s, but since the issue was occurring to all mobile iOS devices with a 64bit kernel, I suspect the issue would be resolved on those as well.
  24. These tools actually do prompt you currently to do so, at the bottom right of the drawing area, a message appears stating you can hold Alt to select an object while keeping the currently active tool active. Is this what you mean? (Will do a request for the original post topic shortly, going to work through it a bit.)
