  1. Here's the situation: - 73 Symbols of 610x1220 lamps on RCP - All are created with a centre point creation & drawn 610x1220 - Some are drawn at 90º to the original - 52 need to be changed to a different symbol, (same size) some are rotated 90º, approx half of each So yeah, creating a new symbol may save a minute or two, but I'd rather have the ability to import the original symbol at 90º
  2. I note that VW2019 doesn't "remember" where to open a file when using two Monitors. In 2018 VW did remember where to open the file. May we have this ability back please?
  3. I note that VW2019 doesn't "remember" where to open a file when using two Monitors. In 2018 VW did remember where to open the file.
  4. Thanks, Benson. In many cases I don't know what the "correct" rotation of a symbol is so it would be a bit of trial & error.
  5. If VW does do this , it must be a setting I've not seen. I just replaced 50 or so 610x1240 light fixtures but they are shown on the drawing as 1240x610 (ie rotated 90º). When replaced the symbols are replaced the way the symbol is originally drawn. So the replaced symbols have the correct centre but not the correct rotation. If one rotates all 90º then the symbols are no longer in the correct location. So I group them, and within the group rotate each symbol 90º then ungroup.
  6. I was impressed with being able to Browse a VW 2018 file without having to open it as a 2019 file. Funny thing is, in looking for a symbol a few minutes later ALL my symbols were no longer available. A restart fixed the problem but I'll keep an eye out for this again.
  7. From time to time I need to change a number of symbols, & some may have been rotated. Then one must select every rotated symbol individually & rotate. It would be a real boon if one could choose to replace the symbol "As Rotated" & save a lot of time. Additionally being able to change a symbol with the Eye dropper tool would also make a big contribution to efficiency.
  8. I noted this at first but a restart seemed to fix it.
  9. Funny coincidence; Ijust had to edit a drawing with these kinds of existing walls & this way of working not only saved time at the time of drawing but now it saved a ton of time as some of the wall bump outs don't go all the way to the U/S of the roof deck. I had to show two new section details for a revised structure & using this allowed me not to have to worry about where connections were and how high walls are & where they end.
  10. We face this from time to time in reno work. Not sure if this is the best way to do it or not but I do this on the fly as an existing walls only have one component 99% of the time: -1) Draw existing walls using a Wall Type, in this example representing a 200 (8") thick CMU wall. It has one component Dark Grey Solid Fill with lines of the same colour -2) Convert the walls that need to be edited to an Un-styled Wall -3) Locate where walls have hidden or furred out columns, additional masonry, plaster, GWB etc & use the Split tool so the wall is broken into different pieces based on the new thickness -4) Select Components for each wall to change & alter each one based on the thickness of the wall that projects into my space -5) Use the Eyedropper to change walls that have the same thickness I also generally Lock existing walls as well as walls once they are in the correct place. Can be a bit of a pain if there is a door or window that straddles two wall thicknesses but that's not happened very often to worry about.
  11. I just tried this: Changed my Workspace to Architect from my custom Workspace. Restarted Programme. Notification Still hangs up the programme.
  12. Thanks. This happens on both a brand new blank file as well as a batch converted file.
  13. Can the link to Service Packs be added to the Download area of in the Service Select? Only seems logical.
  14. SP-1 Installed - Selecting Notification Icon still causes VW to crash. I did notice there was a notification yesterday; was that about SP-1?
  15. A lot of nice improvements so kudos for the upgrades! Especially like the improved launch time & faster renders. Still a fly or three in the ointment here & there: - Notification crashes VW when selected - The Quick Keys to align the change in wall types has never been re-instated (since it was removed in VW 2014?) - Still can't control the output of the Interior Elevation Marker to eliminate the Sheet # or customize the marker - Gird Bubble tool is still not ready for prime time - Spelling does not migrate to the new version so the first few files will take longer to spell check ( & it's not just COLOUR, lots of common short forms need to be reentered)
  16. Whoah! 3 Corner hats are sooo 90's! (1790's that is!)
  17. ...now if I can just gets my MiniCad 3 files to open! 😉
  18. I had a similar question, Jim wasn't able to reproduce the problem
  19. Bruce, I also had a problem with the boomerang tool too, but was able to get it working after a full system restart.
  20. Good Idea, one would still have to either make a copy of the file or remember to UNDO after printing. As I say, I don't use a lot of Colours & so this doesn't come up very often. Now that I think of this, with anything up to 11x17 we print directly & our printer only prints B&W so that's not an issue we get grey output. When we send files to the service bureau we print a PDF & request a B&W or Grey scale print & any colours are printed Grey. The only time we have to do this work around is for electronic submission as the cities here will only accept B&W PDFs.
  21. One thing I've done as a work around is to : 1) Save file as a copy 2) Open Organization & select all the Classes with colours & change the pen colour to Black 3) Publish 4) Close & Delete the copied file This allows one to keep greys in the output. I don't use much colour in permit or construction sets, I rely on line weight & line style to tell the story & I frankly get dizzy opening an ACAD file. It's all in how one learns & works with the programme.
  22. I noted that in 2019 that joined walls appear joined, and were joined when created, but for many walls the components don't seem to join. To get components to join I have to re-join the walls then component join the walls as the component join tool gives an error message that the walls are not joined? In 2018 I was able to get components to join 80%-90% of the time with a simple "Join" command. - Glitch? - Enhancement? - New setting?
  23. So the document location issue seems to have been a hiccup. The Message Centre is what freezes / crashes the file. Happens with a new blank file or the file I'm working on. I do note that the message notification did disappear at the time of the first crash.
