  1. Hi... A symbol can be edited by right clicking it (in the resource browser) and selecting 'edit' once the symbol is in the active file...
  2. Hi... For Color... Check... 1. The colored class... is it set to 'Use At Creation'? If it isn't, you can either set it (and it should prompt you). OR... In the attributes palette, at the bottom, there is a small triangle. Click this and select 'Make all attributes by class'. 2. The wall style (in OIP)... is it unstyled or styled? If the latter, this may explain why you do not get the results you are looking for. Change to unstyled, or create/changed settings to a wall style to meet your needs by going through the wall style dialogs and adjusting settings. If it is however, set to unstyled, and still the issue persists, check to see if any 'Components' are selected in the OIP of the affected walls. You would be made aware of this if you are unable to change the thickness of the walls. Bot Z... Of the wall, refers to the 'Z' height (elevational height) of the bottom of the wall in relation to the particular layer you are working on. This is usually set to '0' unless you have unordinary circumstances. Roof... Is your roof on a different layer? If so, check the layer's 'Z' height. I (currently) use a different layer for the roofs, with the same 'Z' as the wall's layer to which they are 'attached' to. This way, the bearing height of the roof can match the wall height and therefore 'connect'. This obviously depends on the Bot Z of the wall as well (at times). Doors and Windows... Check that the 'Height' of these (in OIP) are set to '0'. There may be other factors which are causing your issues, but more information would be needed. Alternatively, If these (above) do not work, feel free to send me the file, and I will sort it out for you (if I can). Keep us updated...
  3. Hi there, If it is a matter of drawing a certain part of the drawing, then all that needs to be done is to move the page (be it temporarily) to that specific area. I do not personally like doing this so I ensure I save before I do, and the revert (with the page back where it was) after I have printed. Depending on if you are on a sheet layer, or design layer, scaling the drawing can be done in different ways: Sheet layer is where the main printing is done, and is usually through viewports, giving you even more control to crop what you wish to 'view', and what you wish to see by classes and layers etc. The viewport (through the OIP) can be set to scale as you desire. The sheet layer page (size) can also be adjusted for each individual sheet to what you wish. Design layer printing can also be used if desired. I personally use it (if I have to) for quick preview prints or something of that sort. The scale is controlled in the specific design layer through the 'Organization' pane. I believe that editing the paper size in a design layer would change it for EVERY design layer, and not just the active one. Hope this helps...
  4. Hi... I believe that the gradient appearance (in the preview) signifies that the particular texture has a certain level of transparency to it. I am sure that if you apply it to an object, it will be as you created; a blue tinted glass texture (once it is created correctly of course!) Hope this helps!
  5. Your welcome... Best to change wall direction in plan view... Glad I can help!
  6. Hi... Dunno why it would do this, but select the wall that the window is on and click 'Reverse Sides'. The hinge direction SHOULD now come up (I hope). May have something to do with the direction the wall was built, which determines the inside/outside of it. But when you have interior elevations/sections, they wouldn't show on the other side. The hinge directions are made of 3D polygons built in to the window, and are therefore only visible (in hidden line) from the side they are on as the glass would cover it if you view it from the opposite side. Therefore, a 'cheat' you can do (if you want) is to turn off the glazing class most preferably from the interior views and reverse the walls to show the hinge in elevations. Realized this a while back. I am sorry I did not see your earlier post. Let us know if this works out for you!
  7. Hi Paolo... Go to the Hatch definition in the 'Resource Browser', and edit it. Turn off 'Background Fill'. This will allow you to have a hatch, but at the same time have no 'white space', so that you can see through it. Alternatively you can use transparency on the hatched object (but that would lose the opacity of the hatch lines as well)... Is this what you are asking for?
  8. Hi there... How did you apply the HDRI the first time (when it didn't work)? If it was through the View > Lighting > Set Lighting Options dialog box, at which point you selected 'From Selected Background' radio button, and selected your desired background... This would only apply the LIGHTING EFFECTS of the HDRI. In order to have both, the lighting effect and background of the same HDRI, you must apply it separately to the particular layer. This can be done by navigating to the 'Organization' dialog and editing the particular design layer (and selecting your desired HDRI background). Ensure that 'From CURRENT Background' radio button is selected in View > Lighting > Set Lighting Options dialog box. Chances are, by 'applying' it as you did, it may have been added to THAT PARTICULAR design layer... Let us know if it works...
  9. Hey there... Hatching (is preferably) done on the design layer. Would not think it should be ever used directly on the sheet layer, unless theres is a specific reason to. Hatches have the setting (when edited in Resource Browser), to be 'world' based, and 'page' based. Try toggling with this first to see if you get the expected result. Also, the scale of the hatch in a viewport can be adjusted via the OIP, under 'Advanced Properties'. If these do not help, check your hatch definition. That may need to be properly adjusted. Hope this helps... Let us know...
  10. EDIT... That's weird... When another legend was automatically created, SOME floor finishes are now showing. and by Some, I mean 2... This has to be a bug or something... Still trying to figure out the walls though...
  11. Alritey... The Ceiling, Base and Floor seems to be a breeze, and can easily be recalculated correctly each time a new/different finish is added or subtracted. The WALLS however, may prove a little tricky since there are 4 walls VW works with. How can I put/show the finish ONLY once as they may be present in multiple walls in one space? I somehow need to connect the 4 separate wall finishes together and only pull out the particular finish... Hope this makes sense... Any suggestions welcome...
  12. Hello there, Just wondering if I am going crazy or it is a VW2011 bug... When a room finish legend is created, there does not seem to be a category for 'FLOORS'. Is there a way to get it back, or do we have to wait for the next SP?! Also, I am NOW attempting to create a simple, but DYNAMIC Room Finish Legend via worksheet and criteria and 'SUM' (in the worksheet). This would be a database, as opposed to the default standard spreadsheet created via VW. Has this been done already? Is it worth doing? And does anyone think it may not work. I may post it here on completion... hopefully shortly... p.s. Latest Service Pack (SP3) installed. Thanks
  13. Also... Customized stuff for an office can also be placed in a 'workgroup folder' (on a server), allowing access to ALL the staff, without having to duplicate info. This can be set through Vectorworks Preferences > User Folders.
  14. Hi... You should be able to set this in your 'Workspace Editor'. Tools > Workspaces > Workspace Editor You will be prompted, select as desired... Under the 'Menu' tab, under 'View', you should find the command that you are looking for (Create Viewport). Select this and create the shortcut you desire, with the help of the below radio buttons. You should have about 4 options, and all you are required to do is click on the key you wish to assign the shortcut to. Bare in mind, you may be prompted, that you are replacing an existing shortcut... Hope this helps...
  15. Hi... I believe, you'll need to set the working planes/views which you wish to place the image on. This can be done before it is imported, with the 'Active Plane' being set to 'Layer Plane'. Alternatively, for images already in a document, and in 'Screen Plane', you can set the view, select the image, and in the OIP change the 'Plane' to 'Layer'. I hope this helps... And welcome to the VW Community Board...
  16. Downloaded and Installed... Let's see how it goes...
  17. Hi Pat, do you mean... '... if you set it to By Class then it will change when you change the settings of the SHEET BORDER'?
  18. Hi there... I am assuming you are using the sheet border method... Size... can be controlled by scaling appropriately in the OIP. Color... I think, if you class the items you wish to change colors of, this can be easily manipulated by adjusting that particular class. Keep in mind, all instances of that ONE title block (symbol) will have THAT particular color. Images... although these cannot be changed easily without modifying the symbol, if you have consistent images, you could possible class these as well to control them. If the images are project based, then you are better off modifying the symbol (with the new image) for that particular job in that particular document. I do not believe you can use just ONE symbol definition in a document which shows different images and colors, in the normal use of the sheet border tool. You would need to duplicate the symbol, for each change. Hope this helps...
  19. Hi Jay... Here's what I found for what I understand you are looking for: For the particular styled wall in your resource browser... right click on it and edit... click on the 'Data' tab... type in the label you wish to give the wall in the 'Mark' field (eg. W1, W2, ...)... save these settings by clicking 'OK' when prompted (and replace walls)... once this is done for all of the styled walls, use the 'ID Label Tool' in 'Dims/Notes' tool set... click 1st on an open space (where you want the label), and then 2nd click on the (styled) wall... you SHOULD now have a label for that particular wall with an 'ID' showing the wall style... Let me know if this works, and if it is what you wanted
  20. Better yet.... (you don't need to re-install) With VW off, delete/move the 'Settings' folder in your user folder. Launch VW, and see what happens. I think it HAS to be some setting which is causing this (but I could be wrong). If you move this folder (to another location), and it works, you should be able to pinpoint the problem eventually. So move the folder to a temporary place as oppose to deleting it. Let us know how it goes.
  21. Hi again... When you re-installed VW... did you also delete your user folder? If you haven't, try that. But ensure you save any data you had placed there in another location first. If it is just a setting, then it should refresh to defaults once you delete your user folder and re-install. Let me know how it goes. I am still looking for this setting though, with no luck thus far.
  22. Well spotted Monadnoc!!! (if your right of course!) And welcome to VW Community Board!
  23. ??? That OIP does NOT look like mine! Strange... And it's definitely VW2011 with current service pack (SP2)?
