rafaelmartins.95
Hello, I'm trying to place trees in my model. When I select a tree, any tree, from the list in the VBvisual tree tool, I place it and then nothing happens. It's as if I did nothing. I don't understand. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Ahmm, there is a VBVisual Tree Tool in VW ? I always just added them from Resource Manager Libraries .... Quote Link to comment
rafaelmartins.95
@zoomer How do you do that? Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Well, I bought VBVisual Plants Kit long ago for C4D. there I was used to have the plant tool to set saisons. I have never found or seen that in VW. At one point I found some basic VW plants (Symbols) in Resource Manger and used them. Could be that years ago more plants were provided by VW Service Select Libraries .... Looks like I always use just some of the more "transparent" Maple Trees for Spring though ... One moment please, .... RM : VW Libraries > Defaults > VBvisual Plant > Maple 16 m : contains the Maple Trees as Symbols, high and low, for all seasons. Double Click on "Maple_16m_High_Spring_11.29_11.26_16.00", VW will download the whole Maple Library File, double click again (?) to enter Symbol insertion Mode, hover over Drawing View in desired position, click once to confirm the location, click again for rotation, type "X" to end Symbol Insertion. CMD+R to close RM. Now I have a 16 m Maple Tree high, Spring Season, in my Drawing. Also that Maple Tree Symbol is now loaded in and part of my File's Symbol Library. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Something is crazy here. I notice that I don't see my Workgroup Libraries in RM ... possible because I did not Batch Convert or migrated them for VW 2020 and 2021. I just try to do that now by Batch converting some libraries and it looks like I do not find those VB Plants Folder that I see in RM, neither in APP Library, nor WORKGROUP Library nor in my USER library ... Maybe VW 2021 is now fully virtual and in the cloud. Currently, I am totally confused .... Quote Link to comment
zoomer
OK, got cleaned up my Workspace Folder, got created 3 times of VW Folder Hierarchies when trying to set the correct Path for Workgroup ... (Which seems to change in Syntax each year since VW 2020 now ...) There is still needed a "Libraries" Top Folder, behind your Path Sytax in VW Settings .... So I found the rigtht Workgroup Folder ingredients and could delete 2 redundant Hierarchies, that VW created ... And I can see my Batch Converted Files now in RM (Which needs a "Refresh Libraries", of course ...) So I am good now. Realize that I do not have so many VBVisual Plants though. It is not the complete Plants Kit ... Edited March 24, 2021 by zoomer Quote Link to comment

If you put content in the Libraries/Defaults/VBvisual Plant folder (.vwx files) the tool will show them in the mode bar. 1 Quote Link to comment
Popular Post _c_
@Dave Donley, I used them recently for their shadows. I must say, I fell in love with them... 5 Quote Link to comment
Helm
I like them because they show up looking like trees in both plan and 3D views in VW and they work well with Enscape whereas the Escape trees just show as polygons in VW. I just wish there were more included with VW to buy more they are a bit expensive. 2 Quote Link to comment

And it has the advantage, opposite to just dragging Symbols in, that by the VB Tool you can switch seasons and only need a single click when placing VB plants .... Quote Link to comment
