RFM
Any ideas on how to render metal mesh curtains such as those by Cascade Coil? It'd be great to do a video walk-through with lighting or projections on a semi-transparent, highly reflective and sinuous mesh. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted April 22, 2019 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 22, 2019 If you search for Metal Mesh in the Resource Manager, you'll find some great examples of textures which utilise a transparency mask. These, when rendered with a Renderworks mode, will give the effect of metal mesh. Quote Link to comment
RFM
Is it possible to get a highly reflective, metallic rendering? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted April 23, 2019 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 23, 2019 Yes, if you edit the Reflectivity shader in any texture, you have many metallic options. Quote Link to comment

Hi Tamsin, can you please tell me what I am doing wrong as I don't get any results when I search for Metal Mesh? 2019-04-26 09-58-49.mp4 Quote Link to comment
Andy Broomell
Where it says "Symbols/Plug-in Objects" - change that dropdown to "Renderworks Textures" then search again. 2 Quote Link to comment
Boh
Yes! You would think though when you ask the RM to search "Everywhere" it would actually mean everywhere... Thanks Andy. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Luis M Ruiz Posted April 29, 2019 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 29, 2019 This video tells me there are no symbols called "metal mesh". I learned the hard way to always set the type of resource I need, then type what I am looking for. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Luis M Ruiz Posted April 29, 2019 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 29, 2019 Also, a good idea is to check out the mtexture library. More and more I find cool goodies here. Available in v2019 4 Quote Link to comment
