jgmrussell
Hi all, I'm trying to design a gable roof that is higher on one long side than the other (see attachment) I've been trying to figure it out but not able to with my limited knowledge. Is there a quick fix that I can use? The reason for the different heights is the need for a door on the higher side. Thank you for any help. John 16-10-17. Beth's Barn-1.pdf Quote Link to comment
barkest
I would use a roof face rather than a roof for this. After creating the two roof faces then select the walls where the gables are and use fit walls to objects. If you are having trouble joining the two roof faces then you can use the connect combine tool. Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Hi, Roof faces would be the simplest way to go. In th attached file there are 2 roof faces, dont rotate ust select the ridge corner of one and move and snap it to the other. If you hold the cuser over the ridge or the gutter line in the bottom right of the screen you will see the Z value, this is how you can keep your heights accurate in 3D HTH Untitled1.vwx Untitled1_v2016.vwx Edited October 18, 2016 by Alan Woodwell Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Matt Panzer Posted October 18, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 18, 2016 The roof object can also do this easily: Create a roof from a rectangle Change the settings on the two opposite sides to be gables Set the bearing height of one of the sloped faces the the desired height (above the other).
