michaelk
Anybody know why I can't convert this 2D poly to a 3D poly without having it split? mk Test_v2017.vwx Test.vwx Quote Link to comment

As a quick sample, if you take a rectangle and subtract a smaller rectangle from the center of it, you can see that it will give you a Polyline rather than a Polygon. Unfortunately we don't have 3D Polylines, so you might end up using NURBS instead. If it happens to convert to separate curves, you may need to convert each curve to a surface with Model > 3D Powerpack > Create Surface from Curves. Then you should be able to subtract the interior holes from the larger object and be left with a single 3D object. Quote Link to comment

Then select the larger, outside surface and Use Model>3D Powerpack>Create Surface from Curves. Finally use the Project tool to subtract the two other curves from the surface (it will take two separate operations and some ungrouping). I vote for NURBS anyway.... they are way better than 3d polygons Kevin Quote Link to comment
0 michaelk
Kevin I agree. I'd much rather deal with curbs. But you can't do a "send to surface" with Nurbs. mk Quote Link to comment
