Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted May 4, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 4, 2016 Once you get it set up properly, it's hard to give up the little 3Dconnexion controller. We demoed using it in the Rendering for Success training at the Summit and didn't even think about it specifically, but it was the first thing users asked about once we starting flying around in perspective OpenGL as you are here. markdd
Jim Would it be possible for you to share your set up of this device? I am having problems getting it to work properly with the default settings. Many thanks Mark Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Hi, If you hold the 'B' key down when you are trying to join the items you have Xray mode and it makes it easier to grab points. HTH Quote Link to comment
sak1850
I am looking at the new space mouse enterprise which will allow for 12 preset commands (extrude, duplicate along path etc.) it states that it is vectorworks compliant but I am not sure that it will work with vectorworks in the same way that it will work with solidworks or inventor, does anybody have any knowledge of this? I would not like to purchase it to replace my space navigator only to find it can only do much the same thing and not allow for assignable presets. BTW I am using Windows not IOS Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted July 19, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 19, 2016 Currently only the knob portion of that device maps to Vectorworks directly. Unless the keys on it appear as regular keyboard input and you map them via the workspace editor, no I don't believe those 12 function keys can be mapped specifically to Vectorworks functions with their mapping utility yet. sak1850
Thanks Jim Do you know if this is in the pipeline at your end? or should I be asking the question of 3d connexion. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted July 19, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 19, 2016 Look what just landed on my desk! [img:center]http://i.imgur.com/oIYIHrw.jpg[/img] Yes, this is actually more in the pipeline than I had previously thought. We are working to implement it's full range of functions, allowing users to directly map device keys to menu commands, tools and standard views among other things. Quote Link to comment
