drmdzh
Did 'Duplicate in Place" change in 2015? I am hitting option+command+D but not getting a duplicate. I use this all the time and do not like the off-set duplication. Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Its just Ctl+D in 2015 and you change the setting in VW preferences ofest duplications to offset or not. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
I use a mostly unmodified, out of the box workspace. For me, Cmd D = Duplicate in Place. My pref is set for Do not Offset Duplicates. Ctl D does nothing to a selected object. Copy, then Paste in Place (Alt Cmd V) is another option. -B Quote Link to comment
AlanW
True for a Mac user but for a PC user ctrl+d = duplicate in place. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Right! I need reminders that the WinOS and MacOS shortcuts can be different. -B Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Thanks for the CMD+D short cut ! Didn't know that. But what's the meaning of CMD+V throwing elements anywhere at any place, as a standard, at all ??? (And get the wanted by the ALT option key only ) Seems to be completely wrong for me. Benson Shaw
Cmd V puts the object at position of most recent click. For 3d objects, the position is xyz. So, its great for placing objects one at a time, say at corner of rectangle or center of a circle or other clickable location. Just click, then paste. -B Quote Link to comment
zoomer
And which point/corner of the copied object will jump to that selected 3D point ? Do I need to : click my object at a special vertex/corner when I select, CMD+C, click at a destination point, CMD+V BTW CMD+D doesn't insert at the same position either, maybe there is a CMD+ALT+D Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Current implementation - copied object pastes in at graphic center of extents. +1 Zoomer There are loads of past wishes for same or similar control of the objects. Even IMSI's early 2000's TurboCAD had copy/paste at picked point. CMD+D doesn't insert at the same position either, maybe there is a CMD+ALT+D Are you referring to offset duplication? There is a display pref to control that. -B Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Found it VW Preferences > Edit Tab > So not bad. But I still think that paste at special point this is a special case, and the Default should for pasting should be CMD+V => paste in place. (like anywhere else ?) Benson Shaw
I do not agree that swapping the shortcuts for Paste and Paste in Place is useful. But, by all means, post your wish in the wish list! I wonder if you can remap those short cuts for your own custom workspace? They are probably "hard coded" -B Quote Link to comment
