Cadplan Architecture
I'm running VW 2009 and there is a niggling issue which I wonder whether has been sorted out in VW2012. It's sort of minor but irritating when it happens. When I go to put the cursor on the 2D selection button on the Basic palette (which I do repeatedly), quite often I'miss' slightly and catch the red button above which collapses the palette. Is there a way to modify the palette does anyone know? Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Hehe, yes I do this constantly. I've been trying to get myself into the habit of using the keyboard shortcut (x) instead for years but old habits die hard. It's still the same in v2012. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted March 2, 2012 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 2, 2012 'X' is my answer too! Quote Link to comment
Farookey
Lol... Happens to me as well... Not that I would do it myself, but a possible solution would be to 'block' the collapse bar with another palette... say the snap palette, or attribute palette? I prefer my 'Basic' palette to be up in the right corner as most users probably do and are used to... My 2 cents! ... Or just practice using 'X' as the others suggested! :-) Quote Link to comment
Farookey
Of course, that would mean that you'd have to select the top palette each time you use something on the basic palette... Lol... Quote Link to comment
bcd
x the ball - it's way faster Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
If I was NV I'd just swap Zoom and Selection Tool. Quote Link to comment
bcd
You can create a new palette via the Workspace Editor and even place multiples of the same tool if desired. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
ah of course, or you can just edit the existing one! Quote Link to comment
J Lucas
I use the extra buttons on my M570 trackball for X and Z(snaploupe). Quote Link to comment
Cadplan Architecture
great answer! I just modified the tilt button on my Logitech M500 corded mouse, works like a dream, just got to get into the habit of using it. BTW this mouse is ace. Quote Link to comment

bcd
Here it goes: Tools>Workspaces>Workspace Editor Then Select Tools, Basic>View Draw and drag the Selection arrow to the 3rd or 4th position ok x2 & go Quote Link to comment
bcd
what you actually asked: as before except Select New Palette and drag to the center column Select All Tools in col. 1 find and drag the selection tool to the New Tool Set. You can rename it if you like. Remember tool sets can be torn away from their host if needed. Quote Link to comment
Cadplan Architecture
I'm with you but when I drag the selection arrow downwards it gets put in a sub layer of the existing icon rather than on it's own. Here it goes: Tools>Workspaces>Workspace Editor Then Select Tools, Basic>View Draw and drag the Selection arrow to the 3rd or 4th position ok x2 & go Quote Link to comment
bcd
just drag it back up & left a little Quote Link to comment
Cadplan Architecture
just got up and tried it again (7.15am in UK), it took a few tries to get the arrow in the right hand stack but it worked fine. What a brilliant function, I'm going to try making a whole new custom workplace next! Thank U so much for your help & patience & to JL for the cool mouse button tip, it's great to have this forum.
