SteveK
What is the best way to put recessed, or can, lights into a gypsum board soffit. Would you have to cut round openings in the surface to allow the light to shine through? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
yes, you would have to make a hole. draw a cylinder of the hole and use Model > Subtract Solids... Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
If the soffit is an extrude (or floor) double click on it to get the 2D shape and use Clip Surface to form the 2D holes in the shape. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Unless the soffit texture didn't cast shadows. michaelk Quote Link to comment
michaelk
This is what I mean.... In this example the soffit has a texture that doesn't cast shadows. The fixture symbol has an ies data light source, and the geometry of the fixture is taken from the dxf provided by the manufacturer. No need to "drill" a hole in the soffit. Just insert the symbol and set the z value. hth michaelk Edited July 22, 2009 by michaelk Quote Link to comment
