Managing Line and Dash styles

propstuff

Question

When importing files from other offices, frequently a bazillion line and dash styles come in with them.

This results in a mess of line styles which are frequently un-readable. (IE they dashes are to fine to display -because they were made for 1:1 scale drgs???)

I would like to be able to manage them on import and replace the imported styles with standard styles in the document.

A intelligently designed interface would be highly desirable. I believe there have been no basic changes here for over 10 years. We'd like to be able to easily edit the styles (i.e., see them at a larger scale with WYSIWYG display), sort them and number them so that we don't have to guess which of the almost-identical-looking dash styles we're picking, and consolidate the types by being able to delete a style and replace it with another, just as we do with classes.

I couldn't agree more with the above comments.

1. Having to drag the sliders to set the the dash spacing is a pain. You should have boxes where you can type in values for each segment of the dash.

2. Names other than 'Dashed Style #1' would also be a welcome addition, something more descriptive like 'Property', 'Center', 'Hidden', etc.

3. Just like there are set predefined classes and layers, there should be set predefined dash styles. Then you could import dash styles into a file and have consistent dashes across files / projects. Of course, these should have the ability to be user-defined.
