Partial Guardrailing on Stair

Is there a way to have only a partial guard rail on the stairs?  I have a stair where the top half of the stair is next to a wall and the lower half is not.  How do I make the guard railing stop at the wall but have the hand rail go the full length of the stairs?

I think this is not possible.

 

But as VW Stair handrails often does not meet users expectations anyway,

many switch Stair handrail off and use the separate Railing Tool to add

these separately.

Or model in 3D with the following shortcut:

 

Build the Stair with the guardrail showing -> Duplicate the Stair -> Ungroup the duplicate -> delete/modify the parts of the resulting group you don't need ->turn the guardrail off on the original Stair.

Are you using VW2024,  if so this is easily done using the new railing tool in gravity mode.   Something like this.

I tried this but couldn't get the railing to follow the angle of the stairs.

Thanks, I guess I need to start using 2024!
